The archetypical "kimagure" (whimsical) character, Madoka is secretly in love with [Kyosuke](https://anilist.co/character/9014/Kasuga-Kyosuke), and is best friends with [Hikaru Hiyama](https://anilist.co/character/12938/Hiyama-Hikaru) (who is also in love with Kyosuke). Madoka is described as having an adult allure despite being in junior high school.

When she first meets Kyosuke, she appears to be a pretty and sweet girl. This, however, is in stark contrast to her personality at school, where she is aloof and feared by both the male and female students as a reputed juvenile delinquent. In the TV series she is nicknamed "Madoka the Pick" due to her ability to wield a guitar pick like a shuriken. Despite her "punk" reputation, Madoka is also shown to excel at various activities both scholarly and athletic. She is able to earn high marks in school and still work a part time at Cafe ABCB (pronounced "ah-ba kah-ba").

Madoka's parents are kind-hearted but workaholic professional musicians often touring outside Japan, so she lives in a large house with her older sister. After her sister gets married and goes to live abroad with her husband, Madoka lives there alone. The story involves the eventual shedding of her tough exterior after she becomes Kyosuke's friend, as evidenced by the changes in her life after she meets him. She gives up smoking because of him, and in the manga other characters note that she becomes friendlier and does better academically following Kyosuke's arrival.

Due to what appeared to Glycine as a lack of pride in Ogami, she had an argument with him and eventually a duel. But Ogami manages to expose his true identity by challenging him to a duel and winning. Watching the duel, she thinks that Ogami lost to her on purpose. In the end, she respects Ogami after another argument with him and finds out the true meaning of nobility.

She has a personal head maid named Tarebou and always sneaks out the house with multiple excuses while she works in Chattes Noires as &quot;Blue Eyes&quot; to conceal her identity. In the game, Ogami is asked to help her get out of a Bleumer traditional event, where octopus, which she hates, is served. According to Grand Mere, if they used her real name, the Bleumer family will come storming in to Chattes Noires for making their only daughter a cabaret dancer.

Yuri is a Trouble Consultant with the WWWA, an intergalactic "peace organization", with military interventionist tendencies. She and her partner, [Kei](https://anilist.co/character/15652), are genetically enhanced, making them excellent fighters. Together, they are charged with taking care of problems for the WWWA, often involving bountyhunter-type activities, assassination, and occasion diplomatic missions. Wherever the two travel, massive destruction occurs, this has given the two the nickname "Dirty Pair". Whole planets sometimes begin evacuation when word of their arrival spreads. For that reason, they travel discreetly whenever possible.

Yuri is demure and doesn't speak as often or as loudly as Kei. Yuri likes romantic men, and longs for her childhood sweetheart, Billy Galet. She uses is small caliber hand blaster as her weapon of choice, and is often ridiculed by Kei for using such a wimpy gun. She also likes using the elegant, yet often ineffective "bloody card" as a weapon. This razor-like rectangular throwing weapon is often worn as earring jewelry.

Yuri is a deep-thinking pacifist compared to her partner, but will engage in extreme, tear-filled violent acts of vengeance whenever Kei is harmed. Sometimes it is difficult to tell if these are the actions of a "mother-figure", or an "unrequited lover". Additionally, Yuri displays hostile jealousy towards the many men in Kei's life. Yuri is a very caring individual, but when it comes to Kei, the caring reaches an amazing new order of magnitude. The two have known one another since at least gradeschool, and are, at a minimum, best friends- on rare occasion hinting at something more beneath the surface.

Creeping towards thirty years of age, Miz's main concern, aside from her duties as a priestess, is keeping herself looking beautiful and hoping that she'll one day find a suitor so that she can marry and retire. While bathing in the springs of Arliman, a bumbling servant pours freezing cold water on her, causing her to scream, and Fujisawa, thinking she's in danger, "saves" her from her attacker. Taken with how handsome her "hero" is (not to mention that he is a teacher with a steady income), Miz instantly falls head over heels for him. Even as the world is in danger, Miz's primary motivation for ending the Bugrom conflict is so that she can plan out the whole wedding ceremony before Fujisawa can even say yes or no. Although she's more than capable of taking care of herself, she likes playing the delicate flower role when wooing Fujisawa.   Eventually, she and Fujisawa tie the knot by the end of El Hazard 2, and the water priestess becomes Miz Fujisawa. At the end of the Alternative World, she later gives birth to their son. CEO of Japan's biggest military contractor, and a obsessively protective mother, Akiko's greatest goals are 1) to reclaim Ryunosuke from her husband, and 2) to capture Nuku Nuku in order to backwards-engineer her. Because of the delicate nature of the information about Nuku's existence she doesn't try to legally reclaim Ryu' but instead relies on numerous abduction attempts by her two henchwomen Arisa and Kyouko. In spite of her borderline-demented attitude and love of firepower, she does indeed love Ryunosuke and only wants what's best for him. That said, all else is business to her, and is frighteningly ruthless and manipulative to get what she wants and was even willing to turn a blind eye to Nuku Nuku when the cat girl was working at a restaurant her company owned.

Megumi is an 18-year-old pop idol who was the top star of a talent agency called Parthenon Productions prior to [Mami's](https://anilist.co/character/12919/Yuu-Morisawa) arrival. She has romantic feelings for the company president of Parthenon Productions, [Shingo Tachibana,](https://anilist.co/character/19647/Shingo-Tachibana) but she often feels let down by him and slaps him in the face when she gets angry. She has a fear of heights.

One of Yusaku's college classmates, Sayako recruits him to join the schools puppet theater club. Sayako becomes more important later in the series when she helps Yūsaku get a part-time job at the pre-school she works at, setting him towards his final career goal. (In the anime, it is Kozue who gets Yūsaku the pre-school job.) Sayako eventually marries the former president of the puppet theater club, Saotome, who she was involved with for a long time, although it is never mentioned until she becomes engaged.

A female minus checker from Eden who openly flaunts her love for Kagetsuya and her scorn for the Earthian. She constantly makes it known to everyone that she would rather be Kagetsuya's partner, but not so much that she would convert to a plus checker. She gets worked up easily and is deeply envious of Chihaya.

The Witch looks quite scary and has some powerful magic in her possession, but is a harmless old lady despite her strong dislike of the Moomins.  She would prefer Alice not to play with them and pay more attention to her studies, but does warm up for them later on. (This character does not appear in the original stories or comics.)
