Baron Ashura is the main henchman of Dr. Hell, the antagonist of Mazinger Z. In most adaptions, he/she is depicted as a disturbing half-man, half-woman combination who speaks with both a male and female voice (often depending on which face is shown on screen). In the original series, he/she was created by Dr. Hell from the remains of two mummified lovers, who had half their bodies crushed when their tomb collapsed.

Yuri is a Trouble Consultant with the WWWA, an intergalactic "peace organization", with military interventionist tendencies. She and her partner, [Kei](https://anilist.co/character/15652), are genetically enhanced, making them excellent fighters. Together, they are charged with taking care of problems for the WWWA, often involving bountyhunter-type activities, assassination, and occasion diplomatic missions. Wherever the two travel, massive destruction occurs, this has given the two the nickname "Dirty Pair". Whole planets sometimes begin evacuation when word of their arrival spreads. For that reason, they travel discreetly whenever possible.

Yuri is demure and doesn't speak as often or as loudly as Kei. Yuri likes romantic men, and longs for her childhood sweetheart, Billy Galet. She uses is small caliber hand blaster as her weapon of choice, and is often ridiculed by Kei for using such a wimpy gun. She also likes using the elegant, yet often ineffective "bloody card" as a weapon. This razor-like rectangular throwing weapon is often worn as earring jewelry.

Yuri is a deep-thinking pacifist compared to her partner, but will engage in extreme, tear-filled violent acts of vengeance whenever Kei is harmed. Sometimes it is difficult to tell if these are the actions of a "mother-figure", or an "unrequited lover". Additionally, Yuri displays hostile jealousy towards the many men in Kei's life. Yuri is a very caring individual, but when it comes to Kei, the caring reaches an amazing new order of magnitude. The two have known one another since at least gradeschool, and are, at a minimum, best friends- on rare occasion hinting at something more beneath the surface.

The archetypical "kimagure" (whimsical) character, Madoka is secretly in love with Kyōsuke, and is best friends with Hikaru Hiyama (who is also in love with Kyōsuke). Madoka is described as having an adult allure despite being in junior high school.

When she first meets Kyōsuke, she appears to be a pretty and sweet girl. This, however, is in stark contrast to her personality at school, where she is aloof and feared by both the male and female students as a reputed juvenile delinquent. In the TV series she is nicknamed "Madoka the Pick" due to her ability to wield a guitar pick like a shuriken. Despite her "punk" reputation, Madoka is also shown to excel at various activities both scholarly and athletic. She is able to earn high marks in school and still work a part time at Cafe ABCB (pronounced "ah-ba kah-ba").

Madoka's parents are kind-hearted but workaholic professional musicians often touring outside Japan, so she lives in a large house with her older sister. After her sister gets married and goes to live abroad with her husband, Madoka lives there alone. The story involves the eventual shedding of her tough exterior after she becomes Kyōsuke's friend, as evidenced by the changes in her life after she meets him. She gives up smoking because of him, and in the manga other characters note that she becomes friendlier and does better academically following Kyōsuke's arrival. Megumi is an 18-year-old pop idol who was the top star of a talent agency called Parthenon Productions prior to [Mami's](https://anilist.co/character/12919/Yuu-Morisawa) arrival. She has romantic feelings for the company president of Parthenon Productions, [Shingo Tachibana,](https://anilist.co/character/19647/Shingo-Tachibana) but she often feels let down by him and slaps him in the face when she gets angry.
