Edward "Fullmetal Alchemist" Elric is a young alchemical prodigy. He is the youngest State Alchemist ever to be recognized by the Amestris State Military, having received the title at the age of 12. Ed's primary motivation throughout the series is to return his younger brother, Alphonse, to his original body, which was lost in a failed human transmutation. Edward, despite his occasional bouts of immaturity, is a selfless boy who gains a reputation as a "hero of the people" throughout his youth. Notably, he doesn't seem concerned about returning his own arm and leg, instead focusing entirely on Al's suffering.

Edward is small for his age, standing at only 149 cm (4'11"), however his body is that of an experienced martial artist, with noticeable muscles and a wealth of agility. Although he lacks both his right arm and left leg, Ed's ability to fight is not impaired, and is in fact improved, as he will often use alchemy to cause his metal arm to partly transform into a blade or shield. His heavy automail limbs are considered by him to be the very best in Amestris. They were made by his childhood friend, Winry Rockbell, and she is constantly working on them. He is able to think quickly, even in desperate situations, though can still be frightened into paralysis. These qualities, combined with his alchemical powers and physical strength, make him a formidable fighter.

Kurapika is a member of the Kurta tribe who were massacred by the Phantom Troupe (The Spiders) 4 years prior the Hunter exam. 

The Kurta tribe was an isolated group of people whose eyes would turn scarlet when angered or excited. These scarlet eyes were known to be beautiful, being one of the seven most beautiful things in the world. Because of this, the Kurta tribe was constantly pursued and eventually massacred. The eyes of the tribe members were all taken away during the massacre. Kurapika is so far the only known survivor with a heart bent on revenge. He strives to have his revenge against the Phantom Troupe as well as to recover the eyes of his tribe members.  

Despite having a heart full of hatred, Kurapika is very kind and loyal towards his friends. He is an extremely intelligent person but at the same time reckless.

Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and is best friends with all of them and values them over all else. At first glance, Luffy does not appear to be very intelligent, often seeing things in childish manner and can easily be amazed by the simplest things. However, because he views the world in a straightforward and simple manner, he is occasionally the only person who can see past the events and see what should be done.  

Luffy seems to have an unstoppable appetite, a characteristic that is common to the Japanese archetype of the (at times simple-minded) young adventurer with a heart of gold; perhaps the hunger more so in Luffy's case due to having an elastic stomach. Luffy is also another one of the several characters given the middle initial "D".  

Although Luffy is fairly lightheaded and a funny character, he has an unstoppable sense of determination, optimism and commitment and will do anything to stand up for his friends and comrades. Along with that, he has great courage to back it up as well as unbelievable strength. Ever since consuming the devil fruit he was shown to be not worried about his inability to swim, much like his brother. Much of these traits are common among D's. His only display of true fear is towards his grandfather, to the point that he does not fight back and is intimidated at the mere mention of him.  

Luffy never kills any of the villains, no matter how cold-hearted they are; instead, he frequently sends the villain flying, knocking them out or until the point that they are almost near death, which results in some of the villains searching for revenge, such as [Buggy the Clown](https://anilist.co/character/725) and [Alvida](https://anilist.co/character/4899). Author [Eiichiro Oda](https://anilist.co/staff/96881) explains that it's not a question of morality so much as a matter of punishing the villains for their crimes - he feels that killing the villains lets them off too lightly, whereas he considers letting them live to see their dreams be ruined a far more fitting punishment.  

Luffy has a dream, and to even have a chance at achieving this dream, he says that he must find the One Piece and become King of the Pirates. He knows that to achieve his goal, he will have to defeat many strong opponents, including the World Government and his childhood hero [Shanks](https://anilist.co/character/727).

Ryoma Echizen is the protagonist of the Prince of Tennis series. He is the son of [Echizen Nanjirou](https://anilist.co/character/11823/Nanjiro-Echizen) and Takeuchi-Echizen Rinko. Ryoma is a first year student at Seishun Academy ('Seigaku' for short), which he attends immediately after his arrival in Japan after formerly residing in the United States. Although only a first year in middle school, Ryoma had already earned notoriety through winning four consecutive titles in the American Junior Tennis tournaments – all in a little over a year. Due to his nearly invincible tennis play, Ryoma has earned the label 'prodigy' by the age of twelve. His looks and confidence make him highly popular with ladies, although he seems not to notice, having his focus exclusively on tennis.  He is an all-court tennis player with many special shots and abilities. One of Ryoma's greatest talents is his ability to learn new techniques after only seeing them performed a few times. He enjoys the tokusatsu show "Hatenkou Robo Dozibiron" (a Super Sentai/Power Rangers parody). Despite constantly avoiding any involvement with Ichijou, he sometimes shows some interest in her, such as when he was admiring her singing during the cultural festival party, or cares about her, because he saved her from a night club from Suzuki. Born in 3045 AD, the Earl of Memphis and the Empress's Swords Keeper, Ion Fortuna is very young by Methuselah standards. The grandson of Mirka Fortuna, he is full of pride for both the Empire and his race. He is ordered by the Empress to act as an Imperial messenger and envoy to negotiate with the Vatican. Upon his arrival at the Vatican embassy of Carthage where Caterina was staying, the building caught fire, causing the Vatican's agents to believe that he was involved. He fled from Father Tres' gunfire, but was injured by a silver bullet. Abel and Esther established contact with Ion and Radu, and aided their escape through the underground passages beneath the city.    After learning Radu has betrayed him to the Rosenkreuz Orden, Ion is terribly saddened, but finds comfort in Esther's friendship. Initially, Ion holds strong prejudices against Terrans, but after his acquaintance and growing familiarity with Esther, his attitude changes considerably. He seems to fall in love with her, though he does not tell her how he feels. Through his experiences with the treachery of the Order, Ion develops a growing desire for vengeance, and eventually joins Abel in his quest to destroy them.

Chouji Akimichi is a childhood friend of Shikamaru Nara. Together with him Ino Yamanaka, and Asuma Sarutobi they make team 10. Chouji has a love for food, his favorite being Korean barbecue, general snacks and sweets, and basically anything that is edible. His nigh-constant hunger is a constant annoyance for his teammates, as sating himself often comes before other necessities such as stealth and teamwork. Because of this, his teammates often use food against him, such as offering him food as a reward for accomplishing a task or simply using his favorite foods as a form of blackmail. Despite his open display for his love of food, Chouji is very sensitive about his size and becomes highly agitated when somebody calls him "fat". Once called "fat", Chouji's resolve to fight is elevated to new levels and he becomes much more hostile to his opponents than he would otherwise. Just as they use food against him, Chouji's teammates use this personality trait against him as well. Should Chouji be reluctant to fight, one of them need only comment on his size to spur him into combat form.  As an Akimichi, Chouji's style of combat focuses on increasing his size. At the series' start he uses Multi-Size Technique to serve this purpose, reshaping him into a large, round form.

Romeo's best friend. He dislikes fighting, is often the voice of reason for Romeo, and is one of the few people who cares about Romeo's well-being. He and his family are later stripped of their nobility and go into hiding with the help of Juliet and her friends. Because of his status as a noble, he also has little experience with manual labor, and Curio gives him shelter rather reluctantly. He later tells Romeo about the assassination attempt and tells him he'll be waiting for the day he becomes the Duke who'll save Neo Verona.   He also takes care of Curio's house after he runs away, giving shelter to Cordelia and (apparently) Antonio after the assassination fiasco. At first Cordelia treated him somewhat like a child because of how he was unable to do menial work due to his lack of experience, despite that it seems she's developing feelings for him. The couple happily wed and later have a child by the end of the series.

Renaud is another friend of Albert and Franz. A soldier during the previous war, he was saved by Maximilien and introduced him to the group. A man with a love for cars, he is an open and talkative person. He is voiced by MIKI in the Japanese series and by Yuri Lowenthal in the English series.

Hayato was introduced to the world of Cyber Formula when by accident he became the registered driver of the Cyber Formula car Asurada, designed by his father while he recovered it from the hands of mercenaries. The Cyber System registers a unique user for the vehicle at the time of activation and it would take a week to reformat the vehicle for another driver. This was not an option as the race was to be held much sooner. This forces the Sugo Grand Prix team to go with Hayato as the driver for the license race over the team&#039;s driver at the time, Akira Hiyoshi. Yuuki's childhood friend, Zero is also a Guardian and likewise on the disciplinary committee. Yuuki has been taking care of him as her little brother since he was brought into their home (the Headmaster's). His family, a line of vampire hunters, was murdered by the pure blood vampire Shizuka Hio when he was young. He harbors a deep hatred for vampires and claims to have taken on the role of Guardian to learn to hunt them better. In truth, Zero was bitten during the attack on his family, and have kept the secret that he was a vampire from Yuuki until he was no longer capable of controlling his vampiric urges.  Zero's body rejects the blood tablets that most vampires take to control their hunger. Drinking Yuuki's blood helps him maintain his sanity, but he is destined to become a Level E vampire eventually. He has started to accept his feelings towards Yuki and has gone as far as to almost kissing  her. Zero's weapon is the gun "Bloody Rose," given to him by Headmaster Cross. He made Yuuki promise that if he becomes a Level E vampire, she will kill him with that gun.

SPOILER WARNING      He is Kenshin and Kaoru&#039;s son who appears at the end of volume 28. He likes to climb things but cries whenever he can&#039;t get down. Hiko basically keeps Kenji busy until Myoujin Yahiko shows up to take him home.    Kenji refuses to leave, saying that he wants to experience true strength and surpass his father&#039;s legend. Yahiko and Kenji duel. Kenji shows his promise and his genius, but Yahiko uses his beliefs and experience to conquer the teen. After Kenji is subdued, Yahiko passes on the Sakabatou to him. Kenji then returns to Tokyo with Yahiko to be with his dying mother.    At the end of the OVA, we see Kenji with a girl named Raikoji Chizuru. Kenji now wields the Sakabatou and seems to be at peace with his father.

Shigeru is a character who is roughly the same age as Satoshi (though Shigeru is assumed to be slightly older, due to the height difference between the two); they were playmates and next-door neighbors when they were younger, but drifted apart when they both discovered their love of Pokémon, according to the video game. At the start of the series his rivalry with Satoshi becomes a recurring motif. Like the video games, manga and anime, Shigeru is described as an overconfident and arrogant trainer who's knowledge of Pokemon stems from being the grandson of Professor Ookido. As Satoshi's rival, he always seems to be a few steps ahead of Satoshi, much to Satoshi's chagrin.  Prior to his introduction, Shigeru usually comes off as an arrogant show-off in the beginning. However, his personality begins to change as he matures. Later on in the series, he grows into a nicer and more humble person in both the anime and the video games. Throughout most of the series, he and Satoshi have an ongoing rivalry through most of the Kanto and Johto League sagas. However, this would soon diminish at later point. After his crushing defeat at the Indigo Plateau Pokemon League, his attitude towards Ash, who finished in the top sixteen far ahead of his rival, changes significantly after this turning point. His dealings with Pokemon seem to mature, as he starts travelling alone, wanting to better reestablish himself as a trainer.  His rivalry with Satoshi comes to a head at the Johto Leaue Silver Conference semi-finals, both trainers giving it their all, with Satoshi narrowly coming out the victor. After his lost, he then decides to no longer compete for the same goal as Satoshi, but instead dedicate his career into Pokemon research. Although no longer Satoshi's rival, he does tend to motivate Satoshi on ways of bettering himself as a trainer, at times scolding Satoshi when becoming overconfident over his wins particularly in the Orange League and Battle Frontier. In a sense, Shigeru is what urges Satoshi to start yet another new journey by traveling to the different regions across the world, such as Johto and Sinnoh. Despite his many absences in the series, Shigeru continues to remain a vital character, and one of Satoshi's most valued friends. He is bound to make more appearances during the Diamond and Pearl Saga, since he seems to have decided to be both a Pokémon trainer and a Pokémon researcher there. He guest-appears in episode forty-five of the Diamond and Pearl series helping to preserve a group of highly endangered Shieldon with Professor Rowan and his team.   __Pokemon ( on hand )__   Squirtle &gt; Wartortle &gt; Blastoise  Squirtle was the first Pokemon that Shigeru received, and has evolved into a Wartortle and then into Blastoise. It has never been removed from Shigeru’s active lineup and is his most powerful Pokemon, having defeated Satoshi’s Heracross and Bayleef. However, Blastoise was defeated by Satoshi’s Charizard despite having a clear Type advantage because Ash’s Charizard was more experienced. When Shigeru left on his new journey after the Johto League, he only took Blastoise with him, a gesture Satoshi would follow when leaving for Hoenn, only taking Pikachu and leaving the rest with Professor Oak. His Squirtle was seen only in a flashback in the episode "Challenge of the Samurai" while the Wartortle was never seen.    Doduo &gt; Dodrio Dodrio evolved from a Doduo that Shigeru had previously caught, and is one of the few Pokemon that he continued to carry with him after retiring from competition to become a Pokemon researcher.    Eevee &gt; Umbreon Umbreon evolved from Shigeru’s Eevee. Umbreon's main assets are its Agility, and it also seems to be Shigeru’s favorite Pokemon. In Episode 118, "The Rivalry Revival", Shigeru uses his Eevee in a battle against Satoshi's Pikachu. Takeshi remarks that the Eevee has bright eyes and a shiny coat of fur, revealing its high level of experience. Eevee ultimately defeated Pikachu, using a Take Down to knockout its opponent. Kenji noted that Shigeru 's Eevee was ready to evolve into a Stage-1 Pokemon, which happened before the events in Episode 173, "Power Play", in which Satoshi and his companions discover that the Eevee had evolved into an Umbreon. Eisuke is Ran's new classmate. The two met shortly following the Black Impact incident in which the ~!FBI!~ apprehended a member of the Black Organization via a fluke accident in which Eisuke appears very curious about.  His deductive skills are not very impressive, though Detective Moore has offered Eisuke the opportunity to visit his agency at any time. Eisuke seems to have impecable timing throughout his short time in the series as he is accident prone.  Eisuke is suspected of assisting the Black Organization; however, it is unclear as to who he works for or if he is actually a member of the Black Organization. For instance, in one case, Eisuke broke down in tears because he was "unable to solve the mystery." Though suspicions regarding Eisuke's true identity for Case Closed enthusiasts increases as Vodka says to himself "Hondou... Hondou... Hondou..." This incident combined with Eisuke's similarities to Rena Mizunashi has led Conan to believe that the two are related; however, viewers may infer that the Black Organization's relation with Eisuke goes deeper. In File 604, It is revealed that Rena actually is Eisuke's sister Hidemi, who is a ~!CIA!~ agent like their father Ethan. After Mizunashi returns to the Black Organization, the ~!FBI!~ tries to get Eisuke to enter the witness protection program. However, Eisuke returns in File 619, and has refused to be protected by the ~!FBI!~. Surprisingly in File 621, ~!Eisuke reveals to Conan that he is in love with Ran, and that he wants to travel to America to become a CIA agent and take her with him. Conan refuses and tells Eisuke his true identity as Kudo Shinichi. Eisuke only laughs and tells Conan he had suspected it all along. Before leaving, Eisuke asks Conan to make Ran happy.!~

He made many friends everywhere he goes; even some ill-tempered players are fascinated by his friendliness. All his shots were powerful and his techniques are unique and were impossible to follow. 


Classmate of Natsumi, known as Mutsumi Hojo in the manga. A poet/artist/philosopher who skips class a lot. He has his own radio show which Natsumi listens to. His partner is Sergeant Major Kururu (Kururu-sōchō), who gave him a pen that allows him to draw anything and make it appear. In the manga, Mutsumi first met the Sergeant Major when the Keronian tried to strike off on his own and turn the students of Saburo&#039;s school into his servants. The reason that the two get along so well is because they share the same wavelength. Saburo is a genius, who got a perfect score of 300 out of 300 on an IQ test, and is excellent at sports as well. He has a hard time fitting in with his classmates (especially the male ones) because of this. Although Mutsumi is extremely clever and observant, he seems unaware of Natsumi&#039;s crush on him. Every time he comes near Natsumi, he is pushed aside by a jealous Giroro. Mutsumi also makes a few appearances in the anime series Seven of Seven. Lumen is bright, loquacious, and loves cute girls. Ebony, his spider, also loves to talk and always advises Lumen on how to rule Arachna, his battle technique, and on dating! In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, Johan Anderson (called Jesse Anderson in the 4Kids dub) is one of the transfer students who arrived at Duel Academy during Judai&#039;s third year. Johan is the representative from North Academy, and plays a Gem Beast deck which centers around the seven Gem Beast monsters, including his spirit partner Ruby Carbuncle. Johan becomes fast friends with Judai after discovering that they share the ability to communicate with monster spirits. Judai and his friends help Johan on his quest to complete his deck by finding the ultimate Gem Beast -- the Rainbow Dragon.    Johan and the other exchange students debuted in the manga at the end of chapter 37, but it currently unknown what their role in the story will be.
