~!Utena’s parents died when she was six years old. On that day she was wandering around, lost, and she fell through a hole in a fence that enclosed a river area. Utena nearly drowned but was saved by a mysterious Prince who kissed away her tears and told her that if she did not lose her noble heart, they would meet again. He left with her a rose signet ring (the Rose Seal as it is called by the duelists). She encounters the Prince, and -for reasons which eventually become key to the show's resolution- this encounter created in her the drive to become a Prince herself. Utena does not remember much of this encounter, and for the most part Utena herself does not clearly remember the full details of her history, until the very end. Later on, Utena receives picture cards that give her clues as to where her prince is. By following these clues, she finds herself at Ohtori Academy. Utena accidentally becomes a Duelist and wins Anthy as the Rose Bride. Though critical of the Duels for objectifying Anthy, her honest desire to protect Anthy as well as a drive to act like a prince lead her to become an active participant. As the series passes, her nobility is continuously tested, until she is finally forced to confront her own hypocrisy.!~ 

__The Adolescence of Utena:__

~!Utena travels to Ohtori Academy after supposedly breaking up with her past boyfriend [Touga](https://anilist.co/character/753/Kiryuu-Touga). It is also assumed that after her separation with Touga she was in an emotional turmoil that led her to the academy. However, she sees him on her first day on campus. Her hair is cut short, giving her more of a male's appearance, causing [Saionji](https://anilist.co/character/755/Saionji-Kyouichi) to initially mistake her for a boy. Additionally, Utena is a bisexual character, being coquettish with [Wakaba](https://anilist.co/character/6141/Shinohara-Wakaba) and does not seem to mind her more boyish appearance. She is extremely troubled by Touga's apparent abandonment of her, and her interactions with Anthy express a level of introversion not present in the anime series, though she also shows an unpredictable streak and is once physically violent towards Anthy in anger. This is said by fans to be Utena's adoption of a more masculine personality. Initially Utena's aim to be a prince is more subtle than prominent compared to the anime series. It is Touga's supposed abandonment of her that caused her to feel that she must be more independent and a "prince" by nature. Though she states that Touga was always the prince she wanted. The movie deals with her own metamorphosis in becoming a prince. Utena and Anthy seemingly swap personalities in the movie, and that Utena is the one who must be saved by Anthy. Their physical appearances also seem to mirror their respective series incarnations, seeing that Utena has wavy hair and Anthy has straight hair which was the opposite in the series.!~


Anthy&#039;s pet (whom she will only refer to as friend, but may be more properly described as a familiar). He is a small marmoset who acts as comedic relief. However, he also acts as an omen of bad fortune in certain episodes. Kasumi is a friend and former traveling partner of the anime's main character, Satoshi. After he stole her bike and proceeded to accidentally destroy it, Kasumi followed him around the Kanto region, the Orange Islands, and the Johto region, using the time she spent with him to further her goal of becoming the greatest Water Pokémon Master.

The protagonist of the series and the last living member of the Ashura clan, Ashura (阿修羅, Ashura?) was born after Taishakuten had killed his father and seized the throne. Kanaka is the older half-sister of Narue and a full-blooded alien. She actually appears younger than Narue when she shows up due to complications in the method of space travel (time-dilation). Kanaka is surprised and confused at what has happened while she was away and acts rashly at first, causing trouble. She soon adjusts to her family on Earth, though Kanaka still has a bratty, mischievous personality.

Martina Zoana Mel Navratilova is the princess of the kingdom of Zoana who, along with her father the king, plotted to capture Amelia. Lina, along with Gourry and Zelgadis, saved Amelia then used the Dragon Slave to destroy Martina's castle and kingdom. Enraged, Martina ran off and learned magic so that she could take revenge on Lina. Later, Martina joins forces with Lina and company. Martina is fickle in her love affairs, obsessed with whatever man she happens to see first that day. At the beginning of the series she is hung up on Zelgadis, but her interests switch to Gourry and even Xellos as the series progresses, before settling on Zangulus. She is obsessed with her Lord Zoamelgustar, a monster (demon) god she actually made up. Martina specializes in curses.   ~!She is usually an antagonist and comic foil for the other characters, but when Hellmaster Phibrizo "kills" her during the final battle, Martina uses her last moments to encourage Lina to keep fighting and save Gourry. She eventually marries Zangulus in a fake backdrop church, as her kingdom is still rebuilding after Lina's Dragon Slave.!~ She is a character that is exclusive to the T.V. series, as she doesn't appear in the original light novels or the manga. Shiori is in many ways an innocent character, in denial of her true feelings of admiration for Juri. Due to her inferiority complex, her attitude towards Juri is often downright sadistic (as her schemes are often designed to hurt Juri for no reason other than to see her suffer) and at the same time masochistic (as Shiori hurts herself every time she hurts Juri). Upon discovering Juri&#039;s love for her, Shiori becomes a Black Rose Duellist and pulls her duelling sword from Juri.    In the movie her role as an antagonist becomes much greater by manipulating Juri into duelling Utena. She is also shown as having been in love with Touga and therefore considers both Utena and Juri to be rivals for his affections. A close friend of Yuri, Miyu is often there to support Yuri when she needs someone to talk to about her horrid duties. Since she seems to often be cheerful and hopeful, she is a good friend to Yuri. She has her best interests at heart, and if Yuri is feeling down she'll try and cheer her up by inviting her out and showing her a good time to help her forget her troubles, at least for awhile.

Every 1000 years, a woman called a Millennial Queen is sent from the planet La-Metal to secretly rule over the Earth and lead an underground organization that secretly controls the entire planet. Promethium, known to Earthlings as Yukino Yayoi, is the current Millennial Queen.     ~!Some early movie promotional material identified her as Promethium II, and indicated that she was the daughter of the Queen Promethium of the Machine Empire of Galaxy Express 999 (another of Matsumoto&#039;s works). This idea (and the suffix, II) was later dropped, however, and Millenial Queen Promethium/Yayoi was considered to be the person who would eventually become the Machine Queen (see Maetel Legend). Unlike in the Millennial Queen TV series, and the movie, La Andromeda&#039;s intentions are to convert all humanity into cyborgs, whether they like it or not. Ironically, she puts her daughters, Maetel and Emeraldas in a difficult position similar to how her mother, Millennial Queen from the Queen Millennia series (Mother of Yayoi, and Selen) did to her and Selen, where they must fight for their own beliefs and stop the Queen. Initially however, when Promethium had a human body, she was a motherly queen who loved her daughters, Maetel and Emeraldas. But as she desired for eternal life, without having to suffer from illness, aging, and starvation, she allowed herself to be converted into a cyborg, as shown in Maetel Legend. Soon after, she realizes that she is losing her human qualities, most importantly the quality of love. As a result, she regrets having a mechanical body despite its advantages. When she realizes that her mind is finally out of control, she asks Maetel to kill her as shown in Space Symphony Maetel. Although Maetel and Emeraldas supposedly killed Promethium in Space Symphony Maetel, Promethium&#039;s evil spirit still lives. In the Galaxy Express 999 TV series, Promethium finally gets killed by Maetel and Tetsuro, with the destruction of La Metal.!~    [Queen Millennia Movie] ~!  Yayoi Yukino, Promethium II opposes Lalela and her plan to wipe out all mankind to gain etneral spring for La Metallians, unlike in the anime where she is pressured by her own mother, Promethium I to destroy mankind in order to keep La Metal&#039;s traditional cycle going. In the end, Promethium II dies after weakening Lalela by shooting her with a pistol.!~    [Queen Millennia TV series] ~!  Promethium, also known as Yayoi Yukino is the princess of La Metal, and was to become the next Queen Millennia. However, she betrays La Metal and the current Millennial Queen for the sake of the earth and a young boy named Hajime. After joining forces with her older sister Selen, she manages to save the Earth from total annihilation. It is likely that she is the same Promethium appeared in the Maetel Legend, though Queen Millennia series and Maetel&#039;s series (Maetel Legend, Space Symphony Maetel, Galaxy Express 999) could possibly irrelevant.!~

Yuriko also tries to downplay her gender, making herself a soldier first, and then a woman. This is a sore subject for her when someone comments about Tylor&#039;s obvious attraction to her looks, pointing out that she has never used her appearance to get ahead; an equally sore point for her is her budding attraction to him. Yuriko is one of the most rational and level-headed officers on the Soyokaze. While she is senior to Yamamoto, her speciality as an intelligence officer places her outside the chain of command.

She is a "Class A" spy (who carries suitable business cards) employed by the government to retrieve information on Lagu by infiltrating Hagen's army dressed as a black Delmo. She runs into Rion and ends up following her.   After having been abandoned by her employers and her subsequent rescue by Aika and her friends, she went freelance.
