Hasegawa used to be an official working for the Bakufu, but after an unfortunate incident with Amanto dignitary Prince Hata, whom he was assigned to serve and protect, his superior asked him to succumb to his shame and commit seppuku, hearing that he ran away from his quarters.

He initially believed that humans should focus on appeasing the Amanto, but after his encounter with Gintoki, his mindset changed, which led to him punching Hata out, thus getting fired. Since then, he has been living a life of somewhat like a loser, getting fired almost every time he gets a new job, mostly due to the unfavourable look his sunglasses and goatee give him.

No matter what, he refuses to remove his sunglasses because it's the only thing he had left to remind him of his successful past. Although he does exchange the sunglasses for a decent pair of half-moon spectacles at one point, he goes back to wearing them after he decides that he is going to live out his life in the best way he can. He is constantly seen working various part-time jobs. He is often referred to as "Madao," short for "marude damena ossan," which roughly translates into "totally useless middle-aged man."



Fujimaki is fight-holic and the 'bad-boy' of the anime. He has a snobbish attitude and picking up fights is in his blood. He's almost always seen carrying a wooden scabbard which contains a katana sword. He can't swim.   He is the member of the main force with the least screen time and even says himself that people would probably forget about him if he were to have disappeared. 

Colonel Hades works closely with General Uranus in Olympus&#039; regular army. Like Uranus, he has a great disturst of Bioroids. However, his distrust twisted itself into an all-consuming hatred, which made him construct a secret army of landstrider mechas to launch an attack on the Bioroid Care Center, not to mention inlist the help of Briareos as a spy.    In his youth, Hades was a member of Los Angeles&#039; S.W.A.T. team. However, his rash manner caused him to be kicked-out of that team by Carl Knute, Deunan&#039;s father. Since then, he hated the Knute family, and regreted that he wasn&#039;t the one who killed Carl. Raigyo recently returned to the ship &quot;Zanbani&quot; after a two year journey wandering the world as a photographer and a vagrant. During his two-year journey, he had carried his possessions upon his back covered with a sheet, giving him an almost turtle-like appearance. Like Akiyuki, he is also imbued with a Xam'd hiruko, which might be best described as an endosymbiont [Hiruko (蛭子) being Japanese for &quot;leech child&quot;]. Raigyo once owned and wore the change of clothing that was given to Akiyuki to wear shortly after Akiyuki regained consciousness aboard the Zanbani. Unlike Akiyuki, Raigyo appears to have greater control over his ability to change between human and Xam'd form and thus, seems to have a better relationship with his own hiruko. He also seems to have enough control that he can prevent himself from turning to stone, a common side-affect that occurs in people imbued with hiruko. This is because both hiruko and humanform weapons are susceptible to turning into stone for some, currently unknown, reason. His hiruko resided within his left shoulder. His Xam'd powers seem to be related with water, as water covers his body during his transformation, which gives him the ability to swim fast and create water blades sharp enough to easily cut a humanform in two. Akio is Nagisa's father. Although he often talks and plays rough, he is kind and sympathetic. His childish side makes it easy for people to befriend him. He runs the Furukawa Bakery with his wife [Sanae](https://anilist.co/character/6831/Sanae-Furukawa). In his spare time, Akio plays baseball with children in the small park next to the bakery, and indulges in the Gundam fandom. He is often the victim of Sanae's bread, having to eat her bread in front of her while claiming that he loves it.

During the School Life arc, Akio reveals that he was an actor in a theatrical company, but has to quit his job due to Nagisa's health. Akio replaces Youhei's role as the comic relief during the After Story arc, however, he can be serious when needed, as he often gives advice to Tomoya on what it is like to become a man. He tells the story about how Nagisa almost died due to their unintended negligence, and how her life is connected to the city after getting saved from her fever.

Elizabeth resembles a giant white duck or a giant penguin and is Katsura's companion. Elizabeth was a present from Tatsuma Sakamoto, who presumably picked it up on his travels around space. Although many people consider Elizabeth to be insane and extraneous, Katsura has named the ambiguous avian "Elizabeth" and dotes on it. Once in episode 18 Shinpachi purchased a doll named as Space Alien Stefan (宇宙怪獣ステファン) to which looks perfectly similar to Elizabeth. Elizabeth is something of a painter, and is surprisingly dexterous. Also, Elizabeth resorts to using signboards to "communicate", as well as an occasional means of attack. Elizabeth is also a skilled fighter, able to use signboards to fight off swordsmen.  Although the true identity of Elizabeth is uncertain, it appears to be a man wearing a duck costume. In its first appearance, hairy legs are seen underneath her sheet and the body of a humanoid with glowing eyes is revealed as her mouth is opened just as it fell during another battle between Gintoki and Katsura. Although Katsura seems shocked at what she really is, she has subsequently remained by his side. Episode 50 implies that the person inside Elizabeth is most likely the director (Gintoki was interrupted before he can finish being cut off at "Kanto-" ("Direc-"). Most of the characters seem to ignore this, or at least do not give it much thought, given at the episode was completely filler. Moreover, the next time the inside of Elizabeth is shown, it reverts to the glowing eyes. When Shinpachi boards Takasugi's ship in order to rescue Kagura, a bazooka is seen coming out of Elizabeth's mouth when she blasts the ship to distract everyone from Shinpachi. Because of this, Shinpachi refers to her as Elizabeth-senpai.  Elizabeth's birthday is September 7. "Her" height is 180 centimeters, and "she" weighs 123 kilograms.

He is an assassin and is one of the strongest swordsmen of the Kiheitai, an extremist Joui faction bent on causing world destruction. He regularly keeps his headphones on, as well as sun glasses even while others are talking to him.  Bansai is shown to have an extremely calm demeanor, which covers up the fact that he has a vicious, almost cruel personality which actively seeks out conflict. 

He carries and is skilled at playing a shamisen, which also doubles as a tool for tying others up or as a weapon similar to a garrote. On top of being famous as a skilled swordsman, Bansai is also a talented songwriter. He works as a music producer under the name &quot;Tsunpo&quot;, and Otsu&#039;s newer songs are written by him.

Bansai&#039;s name is roughly based on that of a hitokiri of the Bakumatsu era, Kawakami Gensai, while his stage name is based on the musician Tsunku.

Hijikata is the second-in-command of the Shinsengumi after their leader, Isami Kondou. He's also a lieutenant in the Shinsengumi along with Souji Okita. Hijikata is strict but very thoughtful and mature. He has a lot of respect for women, which is one of the reasons for him being so protective of Chizuru.

Okita has a habit of always playing around and bothering Hijikata which he doesn't like and find quite annoying. Though, even then they both seem much closer to each other than the other Shinsengumi members, for they have been with the Shinsengumi for a much longer period of time.

The father of Saya Takagi, he is also the leader of a extreme nationalist right-wing group.

The first guardian the main character meets and also her classmate. He has much strength, but is also quite slow. His hobby is doing crosswords and he enjoys eating taiyaki. He is the descendant of the oni, whose power is very hard to control, especially when near the sealed magical sword Onikirimaru. He gets along very well with Tamaki and is very close to her. Raoh is the eldest of the four adopted children trained by Ryuken, the previous Hokuto Shinken master. The manga and anime gives two different origins thorough the course of the story. In his first origin, Raoh and his biological younger brother Toki, were adopted by Ryuken after their real parents died. A second origin shows that a young Raoh and Toki, along with an infant Kenshiro, were actually refugees who were sent to the "Eastern Land" to be trained in the art of Hokuto Shinken by Ryuken.  Raoh trained under Ryuken along with Toki and Kenshiro, as well as another student named Jagi. In spite of his ambitions to become the greatest martial artist in the world, Raoh lost the rights to the Hokuto Shinken succession to Kenshiro. Refusing to give up the style, Raoh killed his sifu Ryuken in combat and formed his own army, taking the name of Ken-oh, King of Fist. Among his many subordinates includes his adoptive brother Jagi, the Toki impersonator Amiba, Uighur the Warden of Cassandra Dungeon, Juda of Nanto Seiken, and Ryuga of the Star of Sirius, among others. Raoh also begins to ride a large black stallion named Kokuoh-Go (黒王号, Kokuōgō).   ~!Raoh first appears in the story after Kenshiro and his allies destroys Cassandra. Raoh and his army begin to occupy Mamiya's home village afterward. Rei is the first warrior to challenge him, but he proves to be no match against Raoh and is defeated. He is then challenged by both, Ken and Toki, and managed to thwart both. In the end, Raoh fights Ken again and the battle between the two men end in a stalemate, with both too wounded to continue fighting.  After Souther's defeat, Raoh re-emerges to resume his "conquest of the heavens". He gauges the extent of his recovery by challenging Koryu, Ryuken's former rival for the Hokuto Shinken succession and defeats him. Raoh then challenges his brother Toki to a fight and defeats him, but spares his life out of sympathy due to the fact that Toki was already dying from a terminal disease.  Raoh later fights the warriors of the Five Chariots, who challenge Raoh on behalf of the Last General of Nanto Seiken. When Raoh discovers that the Last General is actually Yuria, he rushes to the Capital of Nanto to capture her only to be confronted by Kenshiro, who has now mastered the ultimate Hokuto Shinken technique of Musō Tensei, the Unconscious Transmigration of Souls. Raoh manages to escape from Ken and takes Yuria captive with him.  Vowing to overcome the fear he felt fighting Kenshiro, Raoh decides to challenge Fudoh of the Mountains, the first person who ever made him feel fear. During his confrontation with Fudoh, Raoh learns that the only way he can ever learn Musō Tensei is to experience true sorrow. Raoh decides to take Yuria's life to achieve, only to learn that she is already dying from a terminal illness as well. Feeling sympathy for her fate, Raoh is able to master Musō Tensei as well. Raoh challenges Kenshiro to a final battle at the Hokuto Renkitōza, the North Star Mind and Body Training Ground. The two brothers engage in a long grueling battle, in which Kenshiro emerges as the ultimate victor.
