
She has been in love with the handsome and genius Irie Naoki since their first year in high school after seeing his speech at the opening ceremony. After their newly-built and poorly constructed house was destroyed in a mild earthquake, she and her father moved into the Irie household, her father being very close friends with Naoki&#039;s father since they were in school. It is eventually revealed that Naoki has always been in love with her. Kotoko is not very smart, having been in Class F for all through high school (students are sorted by abilities and Class F is the lowest) and being in the department in the university considered as Class F. She is however very spirited and Naoki once says how he can do 90% of the things in the world, and she can do the 10% that he can&#039;t. She usually ends up in trouble and Naoki always saves her. She decided to become a nurse so that she could work alongside Naoki.

Ever since she entered high school, Kotoko Aihara wanted to be in the same class as Naoki Irie. The only problem is that Irie is the smartest student in school in contrast to Kotoko being one of the dumbest. Now in her 3rd year of high school, she still isn't there. However, one day her home gets destroyed and the only place left to go to is Irie's home. Now that she lives close to him, will their relationship be the same, or will it become greater than it is?

She is admired by many of her fellow actors and fans because of the fact that she has a great amount of power and strength in her singing voice, which surprises many fans due to her regularly petite stature. She was also the winner of the "Best Musical Performance" award in the first Seiyuu Awards. She was also part of the quartet Prits alongside Yumiko Kobayashi, Natsuko Kuwatani, and Hisayo Mochizuki (all four voiced characters in the anime _Sister Princess_). Her singing style comes from singing Enka since she was young.

In July 2020, she married someone from the music industry, and they had their first child on March 16, 2021.
