Amethyst are two twin Gems who mainly do patrol duty. They are individually named Eighty-Four and Thirty-Three. They're two in one and partnered with each other. According to Yellow Diamond, twin Gems will not break when they touch each other, as demonstrated when the twins bash their heads together, much to the chagrin of their observers. They are both great at swordplay and were recommended to train Phos for a short time.

The twins work in tandem for a lot of things, often talking at the same time or finishing each other's sentences. No one really cares which is which anymore, including themselves.

~!Later, Eighty-Four switches their hairstyle to deceive Phos in order to go to the moon in Thirty-Three's place. On the moon, Eighty-Four has learned to become more of their own individual and serves as an assistant scientist there. They seem to be highly interested in more of the psychological aspects in the science field.!~

In a world inhabited by crystalline lifeforms called The Lustrous, every unique gem must fight for their way of life against the threat of lunarians who would turn them into decorations. Phosphophyllite, the most fragile and brittle of gems, longs to join the battle. When Phos is instead assigned to complete a natural history of their world, it sounds like a dull and pointless task. But this new job brings Phos into contact with Cinnabar, a gem forced to live in isolation. Can Phos’s seemingly mundane assignment lead both Phos and Cinnabar to the fulfillment they desire?

In the mysterious future, crystalline organisms called Gems inhabit a world that has been destroyed by six meteors. Each Gem is assigned a role in order to fight against the Lunarians, a species who attacks them in order to shatter their bodies and use them as decorations. 
 
Phosphophyllite, also known as Phos, is a young and fragile Gem who dreams of helping their friends in the war effort. Instead, they are told to compile an encyclopedia because of their delicate condition. After begrudgingly embarking on this task, Phos meets Cinnabar, an intelligent gem who has been relegated to patrolling the isolated island at night because of the corrosive poison their body creates. After seeing how unhappy Cinnabar is, Phos decides to find a role that both of the rejected Gems can enjoy. Houseki no Kuni follows Phos' efforts to be useful and protect their fellow Gems.

After graduating from high school, Kanae enrolled at the Amusement Media Academy, a vocational school for voice actors and artists, and graduated in 2007. Prior to graduating she was a member of two voice acting groups called Koetchi (こえっち) and Rirachitchi (りらちっち) before both groups disbanded in December 2005 and January 28, 2007 respectively.

Her first major role came in 2007 when she played the lead heroine, Amu Hinamori, from the anime Shugo Chara!. The show became a hit and Kanae was praised by critics. Since then, she has voiced Amu in other Shugo Chara! franchises including radio serials, drama CDs and video games.  

She and fellow voice actress Aki Toyosaki are good friends who worked together on several anime including Shugo Chara!, To Love-Ru, The World God Only Knows, Hanasaku Iroha and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (both also hosted the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun web radio show, Radio no Railgun). 

She was also nominated for "Best Rookie Voice Actress," at the 4th Seiyuu Awards.  

In January 1st, 2024, she announced on both her blog and Twitter account that she got married to a man from outside the entertainment industry.

Teresa Zimmerman is an American singer, actor, voice teacher, and voice actor based in Houston, Texas. Teresa graduated with a BFA in musical theater from Sam Houston State University, and is now an accomplished performer in stage and Broadway productions. She was nominated for a Houston Press Theater Award for her portrayal of Honey in Fourth Wall Theater Company's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" in 2016. She specializes in teaching voice and vocal performance to all ages, and has experience with teaching music education to early childhood students.

The Gems fight against the Lunarians, beings who attack them and use their shattered bodies as decorations. Each Gem is assigned a role, and Phos, the youngest, is assigned to create an encyclopedia of natural history.
