The fairy tale follows a young man named Guskou in the Tohoku forests of northeastern Japan in the 1920s. After an onslaught of droughts and natural disasters, Guskou is forced to leave his home and search for a better life elsewhere. Guskou joins a group of scientists at the Ihatov Volcano Department, which deals with the same natural disasters that drove Guskou from his home.

Andrés Gutiérrez Coto is a Mexican voice actor. He is the son of voice actress Andrea Coto and actor Sergio Barrios and the brother of voice actor [Sergio Gutiérrez Coto](https://anilist.co/staff/189456/Sergio-Gutirrez-Coto) with whom his work is often confused due to their very similar voice. 
He is best known for being the Latin American Spanish voice of Thor in the MCU and also for being the dub voice of the Australian actor Chris Hemsworth in almost all of his movies.

The Biography of Budori Gusko was the recipient of numerous awards including the Monbusho Selection. The original novella on which the film is based is one of Kenji Miyazawa's more famous works, alongside Matasaburo the Wind Imp, Gauche the Cellist and Night on the Galactic Railroad. The story follows the life of a young boy named Gusuko who lives in the countryside with his parents and little sister. A string of droughts and other natural disasters tear the family apart, and Gusuko is forced to leave home and seek his fortunes on his own. Driven by a desire to improve the quality of life of his poor countrymen, he eventually joins a group of scientists called the Iihatov Volcano Department, and there takes part in scientific projects to fight the natural disasters that drove him from his home.<br><br>
