A waitress at Tae's restaurant, Sanjou Tsubame becomes Yahiko's sweetheart. She was saved by him from the ronin her family worked for as Yahiko stopped them from robbing the Akabeko. She is very shy and soft spoken. When Kenshin enters a living hell after the supposed death of Kamiya Kaoru at the hands of Yukishiro Enishi, Tsubame pleads for Kenshin to help Yahiko fight back against one of Enishi's abandoned allies and brings Kenshin back into the world of the living. Later she and Yahiko have a child. In Seisou-hen/Reflection, Tsubame and Yahiko had become a couple and Watsuki has mentioned in his notes Tsubame and Yahiko's son 'Shinya'; they become a couple in the manga storyline.

Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni, he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Together they fight off the enemies surfacing from the dark past that Kenshin cannot escape.

It's been a few years after Kenshin gave Yahiko his sakabato. Kaoru sends Yahiko off to another dojo to look after the master's daughter while he's away. But when Yahiko arrives, the place has been already taken over by extremists and Yahiko is taken hostage as well. Now it's up to him to save the day.

The "Kenshin Kaden" basically refers to the last extra chapter (comes after the end of the manga and after Yahiko No Sakabatou) of Rurouni Kenshin entitled "Cherry Blossoms in the Spring Time" (Haru Ni Sakura).
