Konata Izumi is, more by default than anything else, the "leader" of the main characters. Nicknamed "Kona-chan" by her friends, she is an eccentric but friendly and outgoing girl, with a mischievous but good-natured sense of humor. She can be smart, but she hates studying, thus her grades are a bit uneasy. However, she is an expert in pulling an "all-nighter." In contrast to her studying habits, she loves video games, to the extent that she can compete against [Kagami Hiiragi](https://anilist.co/character/2171/Hiiragi-Kagami) on trivia games (by remembering the question orders, not by knowing the actual answers). In addition, she loves anime, which is also due to her father, [Sojiro Izumi](https://anilist.co/character/2729/Izumi-Soujirou)'s influence, along with the games. He buys ero-games for himself, so she is able to play and enjoy them. In fact, when she became eighteen, Konata was overjoyed, since she could now go buy and play ero-games legally. 

In the anime, Konata constantly refers to or parodies several popular games, anime, and manga (much to the annoyance of Kagami), but her favorite franchise seems to be the Haruhi series, as she has many [Haruhi](https://anilist.co/character/251/Suzumiya-Haruhi) figurines and decorations that makes her room, and even once went to the Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou with her friends. She often gives false information to her family, thus making her father believe that Kagami and [Tsukasa](https://anilist.co/character/2170/Hiiragi-Tsukasa) are shrine maidens. Interestingly enough, her voice actress for the animated version, Aya Hirano and [Wendee Lee](https://anilist.co/staff/95036/Wendee-Lee), is in fact the same person who voiced Haruhi Suzumiya in [The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya](https://anilist.co/anime/849/) anime; other voice actors from the same series make guest appearances during the course of Lucky ☆ Star. Since she spends quite a large sum of money on video games and dōjinshi, Konata was lucky enough to get a part-time job at a cosplay cafe. Continuing with her theme of playing video games, Konata plays the role of a male character in an online game and is married in that world. Her significant other in the game is ironically a male gamer using a female character. She often plays late into the night, hence why she tends to fall asleep in class, which makes her a frequent victim to her homeroom teacher, [Nanako Kuroi](https://anilist.co/character/2885/Kuroi-Nanako). One of her talents as mentioned on the show is that she can name all the Pok$#!ns.

Her physique is smaller than average when compared to her peers, which she claims hasn't changed, since she was in the sixth grade. She is ambidextrous, in contrast to the mostly left-handed main cast. She has long, blue hair which comes down to her calves with a large ahoge, sleepy eyes and a beauty mark under her left eye, just like her father. Her mother, [Kanata Izumi](https://anilist.co/character/3224/Izumi-Kanata), died when she was an infant, and she has lived alone with her father since. In her third year of high school, however, her cousin, [Yutaka Kobayakawa](https://anilist.co/character/3246/Kobayakawa-Yutaka), came to live at her house, giving a total of three people in the Izumi residence.

Aya Hirano is a Japanese actress, voice actress, and singer. Beginning in the entertainment industry as a child actor performing in television commercials, she played her first voice acting role in 2001 in the anime television series [Angel Tales](https://anilist.co/anime/682/). She released her first single "Breakthrough" in 2006, and her first album Riot Girl in 2008. She was formerly contracted to Space Craft Produce, a branch of the Space Craft Group, before moving to the talent agency Grick in August 2011. Her label was Lantis until 2011, when she moved to Universal Sigma. On September 1st, 2022, she announced that she was becoming a freelancer.

Based on a shounen manga by Takenashi Eri, serialised in Comic REX. 
Our unlucky protagonist, Jin, uses the trunk of a sacred tree to carve a statue for a school project. When he takes it outside, to his surprise it begins absorbing the surrounding earth and transforms into, hold your breath on this one, a girl! So like all similar setups this guardian deity is pretty pissed that her tree was cut down and lives with Jin while she takes out her anger on squashing bugs....er, cleaning the "Impurities".

The OVA features six separate stories revolving around the cast, some of which border on the bizarre; one of which is an MMORPG environment being played by Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa, and Nanako Kuroi, and another in which Kagami has a "suggestive" dream about Konata.

Lucky Star's story portrays the lives of several school girls attending a Japanese high school with a very loose humor tone. The setting is based on the town Kasukabe in Saitama Prefecture. The main heroine is Konata Izumi, an athletic and intelligent girl who, despite these attributes, is not in a sports club, and has low grades. Her laziness at school is due to her love for anime and video games and lack of interest in anything else. The serialization began with the four main characters in their first year of high school: Konata Izumi, Kagami Hiiragi, Tsukasa Hiiragi, and Miyuki Takara. As the story progresses, they move onto their second and third year.


A continuation of Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, with more stories revolving around Nozomu Itoshiki, the extremely pessimistic or despairing teacher, and the students of class the 2-H, who are each hilariously abnormal in their own unique way except for the one relatively normal girl who hates being called normal.
