Luana (Japanese: ルリコ Ruriko) is the Gym Leader of the Kumquat Island Gym. She hands out the Jade Star Badge to Trainers who defeat her, and specializes in double battles. Her Japanese voice actress is 小山茉美 Mami Koyama and Kayzie Rogers in English.    Luana owns a luxury hotel on Kumquat Island that also doubles as her Gym. Trainers often stay at the Kumquat Hotel to help prepare for battle. The actual Gym appears to be the largest in the Orange Islands, outside of Pummelo Stadium.    When Ash first met Luana in Pok&eacute;mon Double Trouble, she mistook him for her son, Travis; Ash has a striking resemblance to him, who also has a Pikachu. She misses her son and wishes to care for him again. Luana&#039;s maternal side extends to her Pok&eacute;mon, whom she cares for deeply, treating each one like her own child.    After helping Ash stop Team Rocket, she challenged him to a double battle &mdash; the first ever in the Pok&eacute;mon anime, long before Pok&eacute;mon Ruby and Sapphire introduced the concept in the video games.    Ash used Pikachu and Charizard in the match. A young boy named Satoshi embarks on a journey to become a "Pokémon Master" with his first Pokémon, Pikachu. Joining him on his travels are Takeshi, a girl-obsessed Rock Pokemon Trainer, and Kasumi, a tomboyish Water Pokémon Trainer who may have a crush on him. Satoshi and Co. end up traveling through various regions, including Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto, and then enter the Pokémon League competitions there. Along the way, they run into many confrontations with Musashi, Kojirou, and Nyarth, a trio of Pokémon thieves who are apart of an evil organization called "Team Rocket". But everytime Team Rocket try to do their evil deeds, they fail thanks to Satoshi and his Pokémon.<br><br>

An American voice actress best known for her work on animated television series, including more than 50 roles in Pokémon. Other notable roles include Pie Tin in Fighting Foodons, Tuff in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Doozle in Tama and Friends, Koby in One Piece, and Sara Ringwalt in Now and Then, Here and There. Rogers has also appeared as the voice of Chicky the Kid Chicken for KFC, a talking teddy bear for FAO Schwarz, and as a bungee-jumping gum pellet for Trident White.  

Kayzie says she has been "doing funny voices for as long as she can remember". She caught the acting bug early on, relishing her performances in school plays from kindergarten through college. Rogers's first media job was as an NBC page in Rockefeller Center. She then moved on to a successful graphic arts career, but her dream of working as a professional actor remained a constant. With the help of vocal coach Maddie Blaustein, Kayzie made her first cartoon-voice demo and was almost immediately discovered. She was cast as a bratty little kid in a tolerance PSA. It was produced by cartoonist, animator, writer and businessman Joe Young (Scruples), starred Richie Havens, and featured music by Stevie Wonder. Her first TV series was Nickelodeon's U2U. Kayzie played "all the high pitched voices for the cartoons" (Jerry Lobozzo voiced all the deep ones). Kayzie Rogers is best known for her inventive and wacky portrayals as well as her wide vocal and emotional range. In addition to voice acting, Kayzie teaches workshops and performs for charities.
