The previous Lord was a kind person and trusted the ones around him. He took a liking to humans and their traditions. He could at times be quite humorous calling Frankenstein a peacock, who returned him the favour by calling him a bugger. All in all, he seemed to have a quite easy going personality compared to his daughter, the current Lord. He displayed a fatherly nature towards her, nagging her for her unladylike behavior and warning her to be careful around guys since they can’t be trusted. He also cared for Rai and wished that he would become the next Lord instead of his daughter. He even gave Rai two silver crosses as a gift stating that it was a human tradition. One of them serves as Rai’s earring, the other one is located in Rai’s abandoned mansion in Lukedonia. His soul weapon is called Ragnarok. It takes the form of a beautiful decorated sword and it is supposed to be so powerful that humans associate it with the end of the world.  ~!The previous Lord went into eternal sleep 500 years ago, along with the other clan leaders, in order to free the next generation of their duty as Nobles and live their lives as they wish. He believed that it was time for the Nobles to change and leave it to the next generation. He truly cared for his daughter’s welfare and wished for her to escape her fate as the Lord, since the Lord’s life is burdened by huge responsibilities. Gejutel said to Rai that the previous Lord had wished to see him one last time before going into eternal sleep, but that he was nowhere to be found. He seemed quite keen on making Rai the next Lord, asking him several times to become the next leader of the Nobles but Rai would constantly decline. However, the previous Lord insisted because he wanted Rai to escape being the Noblesse, who faces an even harder fate than the Lord. For 820 years he had slumbered with no knowledge of mankind's advancement and scientific progress. The land which he once knew has become an unfamiliar place with new technology, attitudes, and lifestyles. Upon awakening, Cadis Etrama Di Raizel (aka Rai), seeks to familiarize himself with this era. He locates a loyal servant of his, Frankenstein, who is currently the principal of a South Korean High School. Rai decides that this school is the perfect place to help him learn about the modern world, enrolls, and begins associating with a group of good-natured students in order to 'blend in'. But this new world is no safer than the old; and the dignified, bewildered, technologically inept Rai finds himself embroiled in adventures both ridiculous and dangerous.

When Cadis Etrama Di Raizel or Rai, as he is known, awakens after 820 years, he discovers a modern world he simply doesn't understand.
