Nagito is a student of Hope's Peak Academy's Class 77-B, and a participant of the Killing School Trip. 

On the surface, Nagito is friendly and easygoing. He genuinely cares for his classmates and holds a lot of respect for ideals like love, friendship, and teamwork. However, he doesn't care for "ordinary, untalented people" such as himself and is extremely self-deprecating; he sees himself as "worthless trash" whose life has no value, something he brings up often. Nagito is also highly intelligent, usually solving the murders long before anyone else, though he doesn't share his findings easily.

Nagito has an extreme, twisted obsession with hope. He believes that hope is an absolute good that will always win in the end, and that anything done in the name of hope, even murder, is virtuous. He sees Ultimates as the embodiments of hope that are chosen at birth, and thinks they can strengthen that hope by facing and overcoming despair. He doesn't consider himself to be a "real" Ultimate, and instead wishes to sacrifice himself so that they can shine.




Chisa Yukizome begins her job as homeroom teacher for Hope's Peak Academy's 77th Class of Ultmate students. Meanwhile, Hajime Hinata, a student of the school's Reserve Course for students without talent, prepares to undergo an experiment to make him the Ultimate Hope. What follows is a series of tragic events which lead to the birth of the Remnants of Despair and the realization of "The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History."

An American voice actor, former kickboxer, and martial arts instructor. He is the son of Debbie Rothstein and the late [Bob Papenbrook](https://anilist.co/staff/96008/), both of whom are also voice actors, and he is married to Samantha Papenbrook; they have a daughter named Ella Papenbrook, born on September 5, 2015. Bryce graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 2007 with a Bachelor's in Political Science. Like his parents, Bryce does voices primarily in anime dubbing and video games.

He trained in the martial arts for over 16 years, and holds a fourth-degree black belt. He would go on to become a 3-time kickboxing champion with over 60 fights to his credit. He has been a kickboxing instructor at the House of Champions Academy of Martial Arts in Van Nuys, California.

Ogata attended Tokai University, but left due to lack of interest. They then began working as a musical actress, attending the same classes alongside [Rumi Kasahara](https://anilist.co/staff/95996/) and [Shiho Niiyama](https://anilist.co/staff/95724/). Because of their husky voice, they are often typecast as either young men and boys or tomboyish females. It is also because of this that they are sometimes referred as "Aniki" (big brother) by fans.

In a speech at the 16th Seiyu Awards on March 5, 2022, Ogata had shared that they had been wary to accept "Best Leading Actress" as they mostly played boy characters and do not refer to themselves as an actress. Ogata also shared that "There is so much talk about being 'genderless' nowadays and there are voice actors in the industry who have come out. And like myself, there are people out there who go on about their daily lives mostly not thinking of themselves as women."
