Raji is the prince of Shirayuki's mother country, Tanburn. Regarded by his people and known even by the neighboring country of Clarines as an idiotic and selfish prince, Raji does as he pleases. Raji orders Shirayuki to become his concubine simply because she has rare red hair. In response to this absolute order, Shirayuki cuts her long hair, leaves it behind, and escapes to the neighboring country. After Zen is poisoned by an apple (sent by Raji) intended for Shirayuki, Raji forces Shirayuki to come to his castle to be his concubine in exchange for the antidote. Shirayuki almost complies before a recovered Zen bursts in revealing himself to be the second prince of Clarines. He orders Raji at sword-point to leave Shirayuki alone or else strain the relation between Clarines and Tanburn. Raji of course, obeys.  

In the kingdom of Tanbarun lives Shirayuki, an independent and strong-willed young woman. Her resourceful intelligence has led her become a skilled pharmacist, but her most defining trait is her shock of beautiful apple-red hair. Her dazzling mane gets her noticed by the prince of the kingdom, but instead of romancing her, he demands she be his concubine. Shirayuki refuses, chops off her lovely locks, and runs away to the neighboring kingdom of Clarines. There, she befriends a young man named Zen, who, SURPRISE, is also a prince, although with a much better temperament than the previous one. Watch as Shirayuki finds her place in the new kingdom, and in Zen’s heart.

The OAD will adapt three chapters from the original manga. The OAD is adapting the 41st chapter of the manga where Shirayuki and Zen go on a date in the castle town. The anime is also adapting a special chapter from volume seven — which follows Prince Raji as a child — as well as a special chapter from volume 11 that chronicles how Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki first met.
