A sort of hanger-on to Tsukio Taketsugu, Reiichi is sometimes a coward and a klutz. Though he could only fight well with a bike, using it like it's part of his own body, he's still only a moderately skilled street fighter. He has also has a crush on Mina Nakanotani and often fantasizes about being her hero; when faced with the actual necessity of saving her from Kinjiro's mob he fights bravely but is eventually overwhelmed and is forced to yield leadership to stronger fighters. Otonashi lost his memory in an accident and thus thinks his life has no meaning. Things start to change for him as the story progresses. He is the main male protagonist of Angel Beats! Armaments Glock 19  

~!In episode 7, Naoi is asked by Yuri to hypnotize him so he can regain his memories. This turns out successful revealing he had a very ill younger sister who was his sole reason for living. After her death, Otonashi decides to become a doctor to cure others who are ill like his sister and starts to study frantically. On his way to take an exam, his train crashes because of a snow storm. This hints that he died at that moment. However in episode 9, it is shown he survives the crash and starts helping the other few survivors as much as he can, since he was studying medicine. He and the survivors are stuck in a dark tunnel and it is only after 7 days that a rescue team arrives. A few minutes before losing all hope, Otonashi signs a paper to donate his organs (and inspires the other survivors to do the same). Otonashi dies soon after, just seconds before the rescue team arrived.  Over the course of the anime, he is the first of the SSS to try and understand Tenshi (Kanade). In the final episode, he confesses his love to her. However, it is revealed that Kanade's reason for coming to that world was she was unable to thank the person who let her live on - the person that donated their heart for a heart transplant.  Kanade reveals that she knew it was Otonashi all along, stating that she realized he did not have a heart in the very first episode when she stabbed him.  They embrace in Kanade's final moments, and she disappears from the world. Otonashi, overwhelmed by grief, screams out her name. !~

~!In the last moments of the final episode, an Otonashi-like figure is walking through a city street. He passes by a figure resembling Kanade, who is humming "My Song" (the final song that Iwasawa sings before she disappears). As he walks by, he suddenly stops upon hearing it.  He turns around and walks after her, then runs and reaches out to touch her shoulder. The scene then fades to white, and the anime concludes. !~   

~! In "another epilogue," which is an alternate ending to the original ending of the anime; Otonashi is seen to have remained as the new student president. He faces another soul and inspires him to face up to their past. Though the episode is ambiguous, it is clear Otonashi had decided to remain behind the Purgatory whereas everyone has already left, as he stated in his final Dialogue with Kanade. !~ 

The friend/sidekick of Ryou Washizu. Slowly throughout the anime Torigaya becomes smaller, yet only Washizu seems to notice.

The main character. He is a warm-hearted, caring Ayakashi handler fighting for the sake of a promise he made to Hime and Izumi two years before the main story. His promise was to protect them. Yu has the strongest Ayakashi, Ryuu. Ryuu is a dragon-like Ayakashi. He was in love with Izumi but changed after her death. He cares deeply for Hime and Eimu.

Kai appears in the series as a "bad boy". Takao and Kai hate each other at the very beginning when they meet; Kai hates Takao because he loses the battle in front of him and because he thinks Takao is very picky, annoying and immature. Takao doesn't hate Kai, as he only wants to be one of Kai's friends, but that proves difficult, because of Kai's attitude to beyblading and life in general. With time, Kai became a BladeBreaker accepting Rei, Max, Takao &amp; Kyouju as his partners.   Being a natural leader, he is the leader of the Blade Sharks (which he leaves), BladeBreakers, Demolition Boys (Neo-borg). Betraying his friends countless times, it seems that the only thing that Kai wants is power, though, later, his reasons morph into wanting to beat Takao and only him. Having a hard childhood and no social contact have made him completely cold and indifferent to other people, though he begins to open up little by little.    But mostly, he's the kind of guy that always stays cool and quiet. That proves to be hard with Takao around whom he later sees as one of his closest friends. He develops certain friendships with his other team members but all in all his best friend would have to be Takao. 

Joel Goldschmidt, current head of the Red Shield. His &quot;diary&quot; is a record of Red Shield&#039;s activities since its formation, and also contains information regarding Saya, Diva, the Chevaliers and the Chiroptera. He is a direct descendant of the original Joel Goldschmidt, who discovered Saya and Diva. It also seems that there is some relation between him and Amshel as he calls him &quot;Uncle Amshel&quot;. One year after the attack on the Red Shield HQ, he is shown to be confined to a wheelchair having been paralyzed from the waist down after he sustained a serious injury from Karl during the attack.

Van Argiano is the head scientist studying chiropterans for Cinq Fl&egrave;ches. He was in charge of the development of Delta 67, working under Solomon and with his assistant Archer. After Solomon defected from the group, Amshel appoints him to the head of the Cinq Fl&egrave;ches American branch. Despite knowing their true nature and plans, Van sided with the chiropterans and aided them in their efforts to spread chiropterans around the world. Van is often shown to be eating some kind of hard candy.    However, he was betrayed at the Metropolitan Opera House and was not told of the plans to turn people there into chiropterans. He was left to face the monsters on his own by his American contact, Secretary of Defense Grant, but is saved by David. At the end of the series, he is shown being taken to trial to face charges for his crimes. His assistant Archer is also revealed to be a government appointed investigator who had infiltrated Cinq Fl&egrave;ches to gather evidence.

Konoha wrote a novel called "Sora ni Niteiru" (Looks Alike to the Sky) in a magazine using penname Miu Inoue when he was in junior high school. Kai is a serious person and doesn't like to joke around like other kids his age. He doesn't talk much or to anyone. He has trouble recalling other people&#039;s names and faces, stating that he only remembers people that are worth caring for, but he apparently remembers Kō Kitamura. He has lost some of his confidence in Coach Daimon and the baseball team at the end of his first year, but seeing Kō&#039;s abilities during the practice game convinces him to stay in Seishū after Daimon is sacked.   Yūhei&#039;s obsession to reach Kōshien is due to his guilt towards Junpei Azuma, his older brother. Junpei injured his leg, ending his rising baseball career, while saving Yūhei from falling down a staircase. The guilt of ending his brother&#039;s career turns his desire to reach Kōshien into obsession. Also, since then, Yūhei has been very sensitive towards children who are playing around stairs and matters of when a person&#039;s recklessness effects more then themselves. Because of that, he is shown initially to be very cold and uncaring towards people around him, as he is only concerned with reaching Kōshien. He gradually begins to enjoy the game more, becoming less stern on outcome and more on performance, and make friends as Junpei&#039;s happiness becomes more sincere throughout the series; turning Kōshien more and more to a personal dream or goal rather then a amends to his brother. Light is a third year high school student (12th Grade) at Daikoku Private Academy who also attends supplemental classes at Gamou Prep Academy in the beginning of the story. Light has a father, Soichiro Yagami, who is the head of the Police Force. Light also has a mother, Sachiko Yagami, and a younger sister, Sayu Yagami. In Spring 2004, he becomes a first-year student (freshman) at To-Oh University and gets one of the top scores of its entrance exam.

Nicknamed "Kira", he uses the Death Note to create his ideal world of justice under him; its new God. Though he looks frail, Light is an extremely athletic person, with an aptitude to find an opponent's weak point. He is a genius, which adds to his notion that only he is fit to judge humanity and steer it on a proper moral course.

Eisuke is Ran's new classmate. The two met shortly following the Black Impact incident in which the ~!FBI!~ apprehended a member of the Black Organization via a fluke accident in which Eisuke appears very curious about.  His deductive skills are not very impressive, though Detective Moore has offered Eisuke the opportunity to visit his agency at any time. Eisuke seems to have impecable timing throughout his short time in the series as he is accident prone.  Eisuke is suspected of assisting the Black Organization; however, it is unclear as to who he works for or if he is actually a member of the Black Organization. For instance, in one case, Eisuke broke down in tears because he was "unable to solve the mystery." Though suspicions regarding Eisuke's true identity for Case Closed enthusiasts increases as Vodka says to himself "Hondou... Hondou... Hondou..." This incident combined with Eisuke's similarities to Rena Mizunashi has led Conan to believe that the two are related; however, viewers may infer that the Black Organization's relation with Eisuke goes deeper. In File 604, It is revealed that Rena actually is Eisuke's sister Hidemi, who is a ~!CIA!~ agent like their father Ethan. After Mizunashi returns to the Black Organization, the ~!FBI!~ tries to get Eisuke to enter the witness protection program. However, Eisuke returns in File 619, and has refused to be protected by the ~!FBI!~. Surprisingly in File 621, ~!Eisuke reveals to Conan that he is in love with Ran, and that he wants to travel to America to become a CIA agent and take her with him. Conan refuses and tells Eisuke his true identity as Kudo Shinichi. Eisuke only laughs and tells Conan he had suspected it all along. Before leaving, Eisuke asks Conan to make Ran happy.!~

Son Gokuu is a boy we meet in a forest far from any civilization. He lives in this forest alone as his grandpa passed away, he only has this special orb-like object called a Dragon Ball to remember him by, which he will sometimes talk to as if it is his Grandpa Gohan. As the series continues, Gokuu meets Bulma, a brilliant teenage girl, and they go on a journey to collect these 7 magical dragon balls which actually have wish granting powers once all of them are collected. During this journey they meet and befriend Yamcha, Oolong, and Pu'ar, whose characters mirror those found in Wu Cheng'en's _Journey to the West_. Gokuu also encounters one his closest friends, Kuririn, and others during his time training. Participating in several World Martials Arts Tournaments, ~!Gokuu also battles foes-turned-allies such as Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu, as well as the offspring of Demon King Piccolo named Piccolo Junior.!~

_Dragon Ball Z_ takes place 5 years after the defeat of King Piccolo and Gokuu's last world tournament. We come to find out that Son Gokuu was originally named Kakarot, and is born a member of a race of extraterrestrials called the Saiyans. Shortly following his birth, Gokuu was sent from his home, planet Vegeta, to prepare Earth for sale on the intergalactic market by destroying all its life but due to that injury to his head that caused him severe amnesia, Gokuu forgot his purpose, and instead started focusing on becoming stronger for a little more than the pleasure of it. He now has a son named Son Gohan (named after Grandpa Gohan) who is some what of a cry baby but has hidden potential. Throughout the series, Gokuu faces terribly strong opponents like other powerful Saiyans, Intergalactic Rulers, Androids, and Extraterrestrial Beings that give him fights like no other. Along with new enemies, Gokuu also gains new friends that help him in these situations.  

In  _Dragon Ball GT_, which was not based on Toriyama's manga, Gokuu is turned into a child by a wish on the dragon balls by Pilaf. The series revolves around him traveling around space to find the Black Star Dragon Balls with the help of his granddaughter, Pan, and Trunks. The series ends with Gokuu leaving for good with Shenron and returning one hundred years later to witness the match between Gokuu Jr. and Vegeta Jr.  

In  _Dragon Ball Online_ (which takes place 216 years after Dragon Ball Z, and unlike Dragon Ball GT, Toriyama had a lot of creative control over the story), a new villain by the name of Miira appears with the goal to obtain Gokuu's DNA.  In  _Cross Epoch_, the  _Dragon Ball_ and  _One Piece_ crossover one-shot, Gokuu is seen accompanying Luffy to attend a party hosted by Shenron from whom key characters from both series had received an invitation.!~

The biological father of Raditz and Son Goku, Burdock is a Saiyan who is given the gift of precognition. In several of his recurring visions, he witnesses the destruction of his home planet Vegeta by the hand of Freeza. After escaping certain death from Dodoria, he tries desperately to change his planet's grim future by attempting to combat Freeza and his legion of men head on. ~!He ultimately fails on ceasing Freeza's attack on the planet and is killed in the process. Moments before his death, he received a vision of his son facing the warlord. According to the anime special, Burdock was estimated a battle power of 10,000 by observant doctors while recovering from his last mission.!~

Bardock is first introduced in the television special, Bardock - The Father of Goku. It was only after the film's airing in Japan that he was later shown in two panels of the manga by Akira Toriyama, who helped design the character for Toei Doga's television production. His name is a pun on "burdock" (バードック), a herb. While the Viz manga and FUNimation's Japanese-language English-subtitled anime both use "Burdock", FUNimation's English anime dubs uses "Bardock", and some Japanese merchandise even use "Barduck".
