Prior to the hunter exam, Leorio's close friend died to a curable illness, and Leorio was unable to save him due to his lack of money and knowledge. Because of this. he aims to become a doctor in order to help those without the money to pay for treatment. In order to cover his tuition for medical school, he decides to take the hunter exam, where he meets [Gon](https://anilist.co/character/30), [Killua](https://anilist.co/character/27), and [Kurapika](https://anilist.co/character/28). 

Leorio is also talented at bargaining, being able to haggle shopkeepers to no end. He often seems brash and rude, but overall he cares deeply for his friends. Leorio is an emitter, although learning nen did not come easily to him.

The pilot of the Gundam Deathscythe, Duo is as jolly and happy-go-lucky as Gundam pilots get. He persists in offering his friendship to the initially hostile Heero, eventually winning his antisocial comrade's trust through sheer persistence. But despite his friendly nature, Duo earns his "God of Death" nickname when he takes on Alliance and OZ soldiers in battle.  Prior to Operation Meteor, Duo was part of the spacegoing salvage organization known as the Sweeper Group, and on Earth he is assisted by the Sweepers' seafaring kinsfolk. When there is a lull in the fighting, Duo happily returns to his salvage-merchant's trade. He is distinguished by his black wardrobe, his yard-long plait and his minister's collar.

Kippei is quite the easygoing type and had no idea what hit him when he was told to start taking care of Yuzuyu. At his first attempt to make Yuzuyu&#039;s lunch he only made an onigiri; an extra large one. On top of that, the food he gives her is unremarkable, but Yuzuyu eats it because Kippei is the one who cooked it. Over the series his cooking and personality change. He becomes a little more responsible and gains a girlfriend named Kokoro

Sagara Sanosuke left home at an early age to join the Sekihō Army (Sekihō-tai), leaving behind his father (Kamishimoemon), his mother (Naname), and his younger sister (Uki) who adored him. He would return home years later to discover that his mother was dead, having died a couple of years after the birth of his younger brother, Ota, who immediately began to admire Sanosuke for his bravery and boldness. Sanosuke would also find out that his family name was now Higashidani, although he would never use it himself. His sister, after Sanosuke's disappearance and then her mother's death, became overprotective of her younger brother and father, who worked as a local merchant and farmer with the infamy of being a local fighter. Ota, after Sanosuke leaves his family again, would eventually follow his brother's advice and train at the Kamiya Kasshin-Ryū style dojo to become strong. The Sekihoutai fought for the imperial alliance at the end of the Tokugawa regime and Sanosuke admired his captain, Sagara Sōzō and took the family name Sagara from him. The Sekihō Army were on assignment to spread word of the halving of taxes proclaimed by the revolution. However, when the revolutionary government encountered financial problems, they labeled the Sekihoutai as frauds to bury their promises. This setup was engineered by Shindō Tatewaki, a former officer in the imperial alliance. The Sekihoutai were designated scapegoats and to be executed; Sanosuke was the only survivor, other than his friend Tsukioka Katsuhiro. The exact circumstances of Sōzō's death differ between the animated version and the manga; in the manga Sanosuke realized he had been killed after seeing his decapitated head on display as a warning, while in the anime a wounded Sōzō pushed Sanosuke to safety off a cliff in order to save him before dying himself. Full of anger and bitterness, Sanosuke made a living as a fighter-for-hire who bore the nickname "Zanza" derived from his weapon, the zanbatō. Sanosuke's sword, the heaviest katana ever made in the Rurouni Kenshin universe, originates from the Ōnin Struggle. Due to wear the blade no longer has an edge. Sanosuke uses the sword to smash and crush. Hiruma Kihei and Gohei hire Sanosuke to kill Himura Kenshin, but after the former assassin defeats Sanosuke and Sanosuke learns of the truth of Kenshin's no-kill approach, Sanosuke becomes a valuable ally. He later adopts a boxing-like fighting skill, known for the strength of his right fist. Because the zanbatō broke during the fight, Sanosuke no longer wields it on a regular basis, using only one more time in the manga to defend the Kamiya dojo during the Jinchu arc. At the end of the manga series, Sanosuke leaves Japan to avoid becoming wrongfully arrested and travels the world. He is not heard from until five years later during a reunion of the Kenshin-gumi, in which he tells them via a letter that he is in Mongolia and will stay there for a while before heading back to Japan.

Sousuke Sagara is a skilled mecha pilot and protagonist of Full Metal Panic!  Of Afghan and Japanese heritage, he grew up in Helmajistan, experiencing the harsh realities of guerrilla warfare. Before the events of the series, he joins the private military organization Mithril and raised to the rank of sergeant. After being assigned to protect Chidori Kaname, he joins a Japanese highschool in order to more effectively guard and monitor her. Sousuke struggles to adapt to civilian life while balancing his duties as a student and Mithril operative.

Domon is Recca&#039;s schoolmate who is known for his prowess in physical strength and in fighting (he is referred to as Ogre (鬼 Oni) by other students that he has defeated in fights). Like Fūko, has always wanted to defeat Recca, and the reason behind this is that Fūko told him that he could only challenge her if he manages to defeat Recca. He is unable to defeat Recca despite his numerous attempts, and he eventually aids the latter in defeating and rescuing Fūko when she is brainwashed by Kage Hōshi. Afterward, both he and Fūko join forces with Recca and remain allied with him throughout the rest of the series. However, he is never able to do so, and ends up befriending and joining forces with Recca. Domon wields the Dosei no Wa (&quot;The Ring of Saturn&quot;), a madogu which enhances his physical strength. Later in the series, he also wields the Kuchibashi Oh (&quot;Beak King&quot;), a super-sharp snapping claw on an extendable chain, and the Tetsugan (&quot;Iron Ball&quot;), which transmutes his entire body into a living iron golem for brief periods.    Domon is depicted as someone who is physically strong with matching endurance (even before acquiring his Madogu), but intellectually inept. Another of his assets is his strong will-power, which is recognized even by one of the series&#039; antagonists, Kurei, after Domon manages to thwart Noroi&#039;s efforts to erase his memories due to his will-power. Domon is also at times something of a pervert, though his attribute actually proved useful against his fight with Kirin. It is openly shown that Domon is interested in Fūko romantically, although he is prone to getting attracted to other women as well.

Hideki Motosuwa is a student who is attempting to qualify for university by studying at the Seki cram school in Tokyo. He's an honest and kind teenager who was raised on a farm, and unfortunately for him, has no experience with women. He has a very active imagination, which tends to result in him talking to himself in public. Hideki is interested in finding a girlfriend and has a great desire to have a Persocom—a computer shaped in the form of a human who can do all sorts of things. Although he cannot afford one, his luck holds out when he finds one lying in a garbage dump on his way home from the groceries, which he names [Chii](https://anilist.co/character/227/Chii).

Yuuichi Aizawa is the main protagonist of Kanon. He is friendly and outgoing, and though as nice as of a person he is, he has yet to learn the sensitivity of women. He constantly teases the main cast of girls throughout the story which varies in severity depending on the girl. Despite this, he does have a soft side that likens him to an older brother as noted by Shiori Misaka. He used to visit the city in which the story takes place, but his memories of that time are gone, slowly coming back to him as he interacts with the people he met in the past. As noted by himself, he is afraid of heights.  While not aware of it at first, Yuichi slowly begins to take notice in the supernatural events occurring within the city. During these times of revelation when he will discover something outrageous, he stays strong with the girls he has made close friendships with. Since Yuichi is a normal person, he tries to help them anyway he can and will usually go out of his way in order to protect one or more of these girls.    ~!Eventually, Yuuichi falls in love with and shares a kiss with Ayu.!~

Back when Train was the XIII Chrono Number and Creed was an eraser, he admired him to the point of calling him "his partner", even though their relationship was far from close. Creed captured Rinslet to make Train meet with him at Lunafort Tower, in their first encounter after many years; he wants him to join the Apostles Of The Stars. Creed has a choker that looks like Train's, which reflects his recent and disturbing obsession with him. He borders on the insane, but Creed is at his most disturbing at times when we know what he says must be the truth.    ~!When Creed was young, he was abused by his mother. When he found a chance he ran away. There he is abused by police as a way for them to release tension. His Imagine Blade is shattered by Train in his final battle (When it is in Level Max), when Train ignores all warnings from Dr. Tearju not to use his Rail Gun more than three times a day not to destabilize his electric power (Which would prevent him from using his Rail Gun ability ever again), and charges all his power in Hades to fire the most powerful bolt of electricity he could, which not just breaks Creed's blade, but also depletes most of his Ki, allowing him to barely stand. Eve then uses her powers to remove the immortality nanomachines from Creed, to turn him back into a human. Creed then flees with Echidna to a quiet place. One of Leo's childhood friends who he is often seen with. He seems to have a sensible, down-to-earth personality.

Formerly a junk dealer, Bit Cloud is forced to join the Blitz Team after he is responsible for damage to one of the team's Zoids during a match. Taken to the Blitz Team's base, Bit discovers that he is the only person capable of piloting the rare Liger Zero owned by the team's manager.

Another one of Yugi's friends. Honda used to bully Yugi with Jounouchi. He never understood Yugi&#039;s fashination with games but he was able to understand the feelings of others. Honda always helps Jounouchi or Yugi when they are in need. He&#039;s a friend to the end.

Nanashi is one of the more mysterious characters in M&Auml;R. He was found lying alone in the middle of nowhere with a nasty wound to his stomach by Galian. After he was revived by him and taken to the bandit village of Luberia, it was revealed that he has no memory of his past or even his name, and thus Galian named him Nanashi, or &quot;nameless.&quot; Galian would later betray Nanashi, joining the Chess Pieces and leaving him in charge of Luberia after erasing his memory of him. Nanashi&#039;s main goal is to track down the Chess Piece responsible for wiping out Luberia (Peta) and avenge his slain allies. Like Ginta, he has the scent and incredible strength of someone who came to M&Auml;R-Heaven from another world. Early on, Dorothy noticed that he had great physical strength, just like Ginta. Nanashi uses lightning &Auml;RM.

Len is a surly, quiet and rather cold violinist who normally behaves contemptuously toward and around everyone. He was a child prodigy, coming from a family of renowned musicians. His mother, Misa Hamai, is a very famous pianist and his father is a well-known violinist. Because of this, many people take his brilliance for granted. He seems very cold towards those that he comes into contact with, even his admirers, to whom he rarely pays any attention.

Before he met Kahoko he didn't believe music was enjoyable, though after spending time with her, Len slowly began to enjoy music and his music changes because of her. He slowly warms up to Hino and even gives her advice on how to hold and stand properly with the violin. People think that he acts harshly towards Hino, but deep down in his heart he is really concerned about her (though he may not show it).

As the series progresses, he realizes his feelings for her. He's slowly affected by Hino and his mother says that he has changed his character. His mother knows that Hino is the one that affected him or changed his personality. He can also play the piano as well, which may be due to the influence of his famous pianist mother, Misa Hamai.

Ashton Anchors is the unlucky swordsman who meets with Claude and the gang while attempting to slay two demon dragons. Because the cave is narrow, Ashton insists of fighting alone, but trips as soon as he begins. There is a flash of light, and suddenly the two dragons Ashton was fighting have fused to his back.    

Because of the dragons being pure-bred demons, they often &quot;fully-posess&quot; Ashton, using his body to talk to the other party members.    

Ashton has an unhealthy obsession with barrels, knowing the entire history of a barrel and where it was made just by rubbing and smelling it. His main weapons in battle are two small dueling swords, which he is somewhat proficient at, though he&#039;s almost always outshined by Claude during a fight. Has a one-sided affection for Precis. During battle, Ashton is always scared of the monsters he fights, which always makes for comedy relief, though he tries to downplay it afterwards by faking bravery and tactics in front of his friends.

Hideyuki is [Kaori](https://anilist.co/character/2066/Kaori-Makimura)'s beloved older brother, and is [Ryou](https://anilist.co/character/2065/Ryou-Saeba)'s partner in City Hunter.

Umibouzu (means "sea bonze", which is a ghost in Japanese mythology; real name: Hayato Ijuin), is a "sweeper" in the underground just like [Ryou Saeba](https://anilist.co/character/2065/Ryou-Saeba). With his giant body and his superb combat skills, he doesn't really need a partner. He is Saeba's equal in most things, and the two have somewhat of a rivalry going.  Umibouzu fought against Ryou back in Central America and had his eyes damaged by Saeba. This should make them enemies, but both men shrug off the past since what happened in the war was not personal. That doesn't mean that they don't fight, though. They often find each other on the same case, but on different sides, and have dueled more than once.

The other missing passenger from the plane flight, as well as Takeo's roommate and friend. Norio has long hair, earrings, large eyes, and other feminine features so many characters throughout the series mistake him for a woman. He possesses a high-level shadow dragon that often follows Takeo, and crafts new shadow dragons as a sort of hobby. Norio is very aloof and rude around other people, and it is touched on a few times that he is angry at the human race. But he actually has fierce loyalty for Takeo, and his deepest, darkest wish is to have a child.

Minato Namikaze was the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure and the man responsible for sealing the nine-tailed demon fox inside Naruto Uzumaki when he was born. Doing so cost him his life, and before dying he asked that the villagers not see Naruto as the monster within him, instead wanting him to be viewed as a hero, a request ignored by the villagers. "Namikaze" translates literally as "Wave wind". "Minato" translates as "Harbor" or "Port".    ~!Minato shares a number of traits with Naruto, namely in appearance and attitude. Such comparisons are common throughout the first part of the series, and in the second as well. The second part of the series reveals that Naruto is his son, hence the comparisons, born to Kushina Uzumaki. In his youth Minato, along with two other unknown Genin, was a student of Jiraiya. Prior to becoming Hokage, he was also the sensei of Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin. !~ Minato is said to be the greatest ninja Konoha had ever produced, with natural talent that had not been seen in many years. He created several distinctive techniques, including the Hiraishin no Jutsu, which essentially allowed him to teleport to any location with the use of a special seal. By attaching the seal to a kunai or an enemy, Minato could teleport to the location of the seal unnoticed, allowing him to wipe out nearby opponents almost instantly. This ability led to his title as "Konoha's Yellow Flash", and it caused him to be seen as so dangerous that a flee-on-sight order was given in regards to him during the Third Ninja War. He also created the Rasengan, a technique that does not rely on hand seals but instead uses a concentration of spinning chakra in one's palm that causes immense damage to its victim on contact. Later in the series it is revealed that technique is actually incomplete. Minato had planned to add his own nature manipulation training to the Rasengan, making it even more powerful, but could not manage to prior to his death.   ~!Later during the war he is resurrected by Orochimaru with Edo Tensei alongside all the deceased Hokage on Sasuke's demand.!~

Kuzan, better known by his former alias Aokiji, is one of the three Marine admirals. Kuzan is a very laid back man, showing no shock or surprise from almost anything. His lack of interest and lazy justice (as he describes his motto himself) let others often believe he can not possibly be a marine of such a high ranking. However, if he deems a situation worthy, he will take action.  He seems to be the kindest of the three admirals, helping [Tonjit](https://anilist.co/character/23202/Tonjit) at Long Ring Land to cross the ocean with the power of his Devil Fruit and even letting [Nico Robin](https://anilist.co/character/61/Nico-Robin) escape the Buster Call on Ohara. He seems to dislike the Shichibukai, or at least [Crocodile](https://anilist.co/character/2749/Crocodile); he said that the only reason he did not kill [Luffy](https://anilist.co/character/40/Monkey-D-Luffy) was that Luffy had defeated Crocodile. In contrast to his fellow admiral [Sakazuki](https://anilist.co/character/22687/Sakazuki), Kuzan has a sense of honor. Kuzan's moral stance is unknown, but it is likely that he follows Moral Justice. He is disgusted by Sakazuki's brutal actions in dealing with situations, calling him a fool. While he may follow Moral Justice, he does understand the position his ranking puts him in, as he does not hesitate to do what is necessary for the needs of the Marines.

Dyce is a citizen of Industria, and the captain of the ship "Barracuda". He was ordered to kidnap Lana prior to the start of series, but let her escape due to his obsession with his captive. Dyce is initially a comedic villain in the show, but eventually becomes one of Conan's allies.

Xellos tends to behave like a playful trickster, answering nearly all questions directed toward him with "Sore wa himitsu desu," literally "That is a secret." He seems to delight in the frustration that ensues with his withholding of information. For the majority of the second season, Xellos acts simply for comedy's sake frequently breaking the fourth wall and addressing the viewers; all the while subtly and even sinisterly advancing the plot. Generally, Xellos' mood can be determined by the state of his eyes. If they are closed, he is acting as the "Trickster Priest," but when he opens them he brings forth the Mazoku. However, on occasion he opens his eyes out of mere surprise (as in the fourth episode of NEXT, when Lina reveals her knowledge of the Pledge Stone).

Xellos' true intentions always seem to be a mystery. As a mazoku his main goal is to return the universe into the nothingness of the Sea of Chaos, but near the end of the series he aids Lina and the others in saving the world instead. Even though he tends to manipulate Lina and the others he has saved their lives on few occasions, such as saving Martina Zoana Mel Navratilova from bandits for no apparent reason, and saving Filia during their battle with Valgaav. The reasons for doing so are never given which leads Xellos to be one of the many enigmas of the series.

Xellos is extremely loyal to Zelas Metallium and usually acts only if ordered (although at times he has aided Lina's group without having been ordered by Zelas), and it is assumed that he would gladly follow any of her requests in order to keep her pleased, even if he is not pleased with them himself (an example of this is when he was ordered to offer to kill Lina Inverse if ValGaav joined the Mazoku side in TRY).

In the novels, the Slayers group generally abhors his presence, while in the anime he is treated as more of a tolerable nuisance.  In the anime, Xellos and Lina seem to have a sort of mutual respect for each other. He seems to enjoy the chaos that follows Lina, and follows her for the sake of fun even if he is not ordered to do so. In the novels Xellos seems to be more distant around her, looking somewhat troubled by the fact that Lina, unlike other humans he has dealt with, is able to see the bigger picture of things and is not tricked so easily.

Zelgadis holds a powerful hatred towards the Mazoku because in the 2nd episode of NEXT, he had destroyed a Claire Bible manuscript which, the chimera thought, might have contained the cure to his appearance. This naturally does not bother Xellos one bit, even though he is the only one who does not tease Zelgadis about his appearance.  When Amelia makes one of her heroic, "justice filled" speeches Xellos listens with amusement and mild curiosity, although they do tend to disturb him at times. When she makes endless comments about how beautiful and wondrous the world and life are Xellos becomes extremely weakened, and even cringes at her minor comments. So great is the effect of these speeches on Xellos that, when forced to fight him, the group has even used one of them as a weapon to render Xellos helpless.

Filia is the only being capable of annoying Xellos. Even though he tries to be polite to her, she continues to insult him and call him names like Raw Garbage (namagomi). Xellos likes to tease Filia by the fact that she is part of the dragon race, he makes comments like " Those of the Dragon Race would rather use violence than trying to compromise", or anything along those lines. Xellos seems to have a personal enjoyment of not only making fun of her, but he seems to like tricking her the most. Her hatred towards him comes from the fact that he killed many dragons during the Kõma Wars (War of the Monsters Fall) 1000 years ago. By the end of the series, they learn to tolerate each other and are capable of having at least one decent conversation.

Xellos is widely considered to be the most powerful Mazoku under the five lords. As such he is nearly immune to all Black Magic, only the spells that call upon Shabranigdo or the Lords can even faze him; however, he is vulnerable to spells that use the power of the Lord of Nightmares, though given his speed it is unlikely that he would allow someone to cast the spell against him.

Immensely powerful, Xellos is capable of annihilating nearly anything using his own power. This is best shown by his destruction of an entire clan of Golden Dragons. However, he tends to underestimate his opponents, leading to himself getting beaten severely by ValGaav.  Like all Mazoku, Xellos can teleport anywhere he can imagine by phasing to and from the Astral Side.

Yukino and Soichiro&#039;s lazy and girl-crazy friend, very handsome and popular.  Although bright enough to be accepted to the selective Hokuei High School, Hideaki is a terrible student, and spends most of his time surfing or chasing girls.  Hideaki and Soichiro are considered the two most handsome boys in school, and while Soichiro is largely indifferent to the attention, Hideaki makes the most of it.  During their school&#039;s annual culture-fest, Hideaki&#039;s class mounts a &quot;Hideaki Asaba Dinner Show&quot; which is a big hit with all the girls, but gives Yukino and Soichiro the creeps.
