Koyomi Mizuhara, commonly known as Yomi, is a grade-school friend and general antithesis of Tomo. She is the voice of reason of the series, carrying herself as the most mature and serious of the group. Though smart and athletic, she is constantly dissatisfied with herself due to her weight and is always trying various diets in an effort to become thinner. She can never seem to stick to these diets however, as she finds herself constantly tempted by her favorite foods. Another weakness of Yomi's character is that while she is above average in everything else, Yomi is an awful singer, but karaoke is one of her favorite pastimes. While usually functioning as Tomo's &quot;straight man&quot;, she sometimes manifests a rather cruel sense of humor. Yomi also has an uppercut that Tomo is usually on the receiving end of whenever she pushes Yomi too far. Kaname is the female protagonist of the series. She is often described as, 'The kind of girl everyone looks up to, but not even a boy wants as their girlfriend', as a male, fellow student put it. She's very much the loud mouth, speak your mind kind of girl; a trait she picked up when she studied abroad in the United States. Until then, she feels like she must protect Sousuke from the harsh, cruel world of high school - a place where he doesn't quite fit.

Sousuke is assigned to guard her as she is one of the "Whispered". People that have in their subconscious very technologically advanced knowledge that numerous governments and other groups want to use for their own means.

She often uses a paper fan to hit Sousuke, besides berating him on how the kinds of weapons he uses are not exactly proper for a high school student. While she criticizes Sousuke for being too militaristic and overprotective, she appreciates it under life or death situations. Chidori develops serious feelings for Sousuke and is dejected when he is so obtuse in such matters. Eventually Chidori confesses her love to Sousuke and the latter reciprocates it.

Height: 162 cm  The popular girl at school who makes friends with the new student at school, Nina, who is a magic girl. Ayu doesn't believe in magic or anything like that, she has to keep her cool to maintain her reputation. She loves to play tennis and has a huge crush on Tetsushi.

Mayune is the same age as Himeno and is the eldest daughter of Natsue and holds a pretentious attitude toward Himeno for coming from an impoverished family. Mayune often plays practical jokes to demean Himeno, including tampering with the dining room chairs and setting traps throughout the mansion grounds. Mayune's spiteful attitude comes from her great jealousy of Himeno. By the end of the series however, Mayune and Himeno reconcile after Himeno saves Mawata from the Great Tree of Fenrir. Mayune falls in love with various leafe knights during the anime, but they always manage to escape before she can seduce them.

Milly Thompson is a fellow Bernardelli agent and friend and assistant to [Meryl](https://anilist.co/character/713/Stryfe-Meryl). Despite physically towering over Meryl, Milly looks up to her and always refers to her as "senpai," or "Ma'am" in the English Version, as a term of respect for a senior.

Although physically very strong, she appears rather simple and ditzy, but has an extremely kind heart and also reveals a strength of character and genuine optimism. However, Milly can be just as hotheaded as Meryl if someone is disrespectful towards their family (or wasting food, especially pudding). She can seem somewhat dim, but she has some amazing skills (chess playing, for one) which hint at a deeply buried intelligence. She does have a tendency to go a bit overboard when drinking.

She seemed to pick up on the fact that [Vash](https://anilist.co/character/162/Vash-the-Stampede) is the notorious Stampede before Meryl, but she is apparently still somewhat surprised upon realizing that she was correct. Milly comes from a very large family, and writes letters to them constantly (known as "The Milly Monthly").

Somehow Milly manages to hide a very heavy concussion gun (referred to as a "stun-gun") under her coat. The shots, which pop out into the shape of an X-shaped claw, are so powerful they can even knock over trucks. At one point Milly refers to herself as "Stun-gun Milly".

Yoruichi Shihouin is an attractive, dark-skinned woman who can transform into a black cat for long periods of time. She is intelligent and witty, and is intimately knowledgeable of Soul Society and its workings, as she was the former leader of the special forces. Although of noble birth, she acts differently from other nobles. For instance, she instructed [Soifon](https://anilist.co/character/905) to refer to her without using honorific suffixes. She also transforms into her human form directly in front of [Ichigo](https://anilist.co/character/5) on several occasions just to see his reaction to seeing her naked.  

Yoruichi tends to avoid battles, preferring to help after a fight is over, but she will step in if she thinks her side cannot win. She was responsible for training [Chad](https://anilist.co/character/575) and [Orihime](https://anilist.co/character/7) prior to their entrance into Soul Society. She also supervised Ichigo Kurosaki's final release training using the methods developed by Kisuke Urahara.

Mutsumi Otohime is a gentle, frail, clumsy and soft-spoken 21-year-old woman who lives in Okinawa. Mutsumi is prone to catatonic fainting spells that makes her appear as though she has died. She is also described by the others as being sisterly, kind and caring, yet a ditz. Like Keitaro, she is a third-year ronin trying for Tokyo University. However, her reasons for failing are because of simple mistakes such as not putting her name on the test or succumbing to her anemia and fainting during the exam. In the manga and anime she, along with Naru, was a childhood friend of Keitaro with whom she promised to go to Tokyo U together. Mutsumi has an affinity for watermelons and turtles and gave a latter one, Tama-chan, to Keitarō and Naru as a gift. Mutsumi has eight brothers and sisters and has a striking resemblance to her mother. She is called the "female version of Keitaro" due to their shared clumsiness. When Kanako begins to run the Hinata house, Mutsumi disguises herself as Keitaro to test the girls on their hostess skills; the resemblance is so uncanny that momentarily even Naru is fooled.

Shion is [Mion](https://anilist.co/character/1611/Sonozaki-Mion)'s identical twin sister, who currently resides in Okinomiya. In spite of their different personalities, she and Mion often switch places, and it can be difficult to distinguish between them.

In the tradition of many [Rumiko Takahashi](https://anilist.co/staff/96891) heroines ([Lum](https://anilist.co/character/4835), [Akane Tendo](https://anilist.co/character/669), [Kyoko Otonashi](https://anilist.co/character/4745)), Kagome can be extremely sweet, but can also become very dangerous when provoked. 

[InuYasha](https://anilist.co/character/1353) wears a special bead necklace (known as the Beads of Subjugation) which only responds to Kagome's command: when she yells "Sit!" ("Osuwari!") (Often "Sit, boy!" in the dub) InuYasha is thrown to the ground. The necklace was placed upon him due to his dangerous attitude when he was unsealed. 
As the series continues, Kagome uses the necklace less and less. It is scarcely used by this point in time, and is purely comedic relief when it is.

Freedert is a character in a book titled Ice and Snow; a young woman who was in love with a prince named Elliot, but lost him in a war. In return for Elliot's life, she gives up her own life. She and Elliot are in a constant, endless circle of life and death, trying to give their lives up for each other, and when Daisuke is pulled into Freedert's magical world via Hiwatari's evil, Freedert begs him to stay so he can help her recreate her beloved land and she can find Elliot again.  *Animated Lust

A prodigy novelist in her high school years, usually referred to as sensei and originally featured in the Read or Die manga as a teenage friend of the older Yomiko. She is often frustrated with Yomiko&#039;s obsession with books -- and later the Paper Sisters when they move into her home -- and chides her for being absentminded, leaving post-its in her room. Due to Yomiko&#039;s disappearance, she has become very self-sufficient but unfortunately wistful and bitter at times. She remained in Japan, despite her parents&#039; wishes, in order to housekeep and tend to Yomiko&#039;s personal effects until her (presumed) return. Along with two other characters within the series, many fans argue Nenene&#039;s dedication to Yomiko borders on the romantic, and the series has a strong yuri fandom.

Mion is the oldest kid in Keiichi's class. As the elder, she is the class president and everyone looks up to her as the leader. She acts like a perverted tomboy and calls herself old man, but has a hidden girlish side. Mion is next in line to be the head of the Sonozaki household, one of the Three Families which holds tremendous influence in Hinamizawa. Often when playing games with her fellow club members she is known for her ruthlessness, often coming up with the most embarrassing penalties for the losers.  Mion also serves as the leader of the main characters' gaming club.

Yukiko is the owner of the inn &quot;Pink Amigo&quot; in the Eldorado Five&#039;s hometown. She is the granddaughter of the late Chizuru Steavens, one of the members of the Eldorado Five. Yukiko has a soft spot for the remaining members and the sound of her beautiful voice when it sings always calms them down when their about to create a ruccus. When the Eldorado Five joins Van&#039;s company to save the world, she decides to go as well to care for the aging group.     ~!Just before The Claw is defeated, a relationship seems to develop between Yukiko and Joshua, and she decides to go with Joshua to help find Volokain&#039;s remains.!~

She is Kousaka's girlfriend. Fashionable, violent, confident, occasional smoker, and not at all attracted by the sexual charms of anime characters, Saki is not an otaku in any sense of the word. She follows Kousaka into Genshiken, and is eventually blackmailed by the first Genshiken chairman into joining the club. Surprisingly, Saki actually saves Genshiken from being shut down on two separate occasions, though her motives have more to do with revenge and guilt than becoming more of an otaku.

Mamiko is a mysterious girl with cold eyes who Sudo took under his wing when he found out she had a shadow dragon, though it is never clear how he discovered her. She does not like to wear clothing and often considers everyone around her inferior. Sudo eventually enrolls her at Banda Academy with Shiina and Satomi.

Tae Shimura is [Shinpachi](https://anilist.co/character/673)'s older sister. She runs the Kakidokan Dojo—which was her father's failing dojo—with her brother. She is usually addressed as "Otae"; the "O" is an honorific used to refer to women. [Kagura](https://anilist.co/character/674) always addresses her as "big sister" (anego). Despite her sweet face, she is one of the most violent characters in _Gintama_ (and arguably strong too). She mercilessly beats up [Isao Kondo](https://anilist.co/character/2943) and [Gintoki Sakata](https://anilist.co/character/672) whenever they anger her; in episode 19, she mercilessly kicks the men out onto the road (namely her brother, Gintoki and [Taizou Hasegawa](https://anilist.co/character/3760)) so as to stop a car for a hitch ride. She often displays her trademark sweet-looking smile with her eyes closed before engaging in her violent activities. Her cooking skills are terrible, seeing as her tamagoyaki (i.e. sweet fried egg) is so inedible that Kondo suffers amnesia after eating it and others are barely able to swallow it down. [Sagaru Yamazaki](https://anilist.co/character/4653) even describes it as "poison" after some of it accidentally gets into his eye. When Kagura tried to hypnotize herself into eating Otae's cooking, Shinpachi objected, saying that Otae's cooking is the reason for his poor eyesight.  She has, so far, been called flat-chested three times in the anime; another in 59 by Gintoki; and the third time by Shinpachi, who thought that [Kyubei Yagyu](https://anilist.co/character/6110) wanted to marry her because Kyubei took her as a male (that her chest is so flat that she looks like a guy). She has strong principles and believes in maintaining what is precious, even if it means throwing away honor and dignity. She once says that if apologies were enough, seppuku would not exist. Her favourite food is Häagen-Dazs ice-cream, but it is called Bargain Dash in the manga and anime.

Mirei is the president of the Drama Club. She has a serious personality and is able to forcefully command the other members of her club. She has an ongoing rivalry with Nono despite being close friends back when they first met a couple of years ago. Mirei initially brought Nono into the Drama Club after she saw Nono constantly reading alone. She might also have romantic feelings for Nono, as Takashi has hinted after being rejected by Nono for offering to share his umbrella with her. Although she does not show it much, she worries about Nono due to Nono's health problems. She had tried to stop Nono from using her voice as an actress by not letting her act in a play, but failed. Number two of the seventysixth generation, Rafaela and her older sister were the subjects of one of the organizations experiments. After a certain event, her skills were needed once more, and she became number five of the seventyeight class, acting as an assassin for the organization.

An American who grew up in Hakata since she was 5, Tina Foster was at first the shy girl who loved photography since she was in elementary school. After she met Kaoru Hanabishi and fell in love with him, she always tries to have a good time and have good memories with everyone. Tina also has this fascination with boobs. She tends to have the habit of grabbing everyone's boobs (especially Taeko's) and can tell how big they are, or even if they have gained weight. Always positive on the surface, Tina still can't hide her true love for Kaoru, even though she knows of his relationship with Aoi.

She has been specially modified with a focus on electronic analysis equipment. Just by "looking" at the target, the camera built into her eye can store the target's data in her brain's memory. She is also capable of downloading the information she's gained into a compact device through the connector on the back of her neck.

Sylia Stingray (spelled Silia in Bubblegum Crisis) is the 24-year-old ringleader of the Knight Sabers. Very calm and cool-headed, she does not show much emotion. She is the daughter of Dr. Katsuhito Stingray, the man who originally created the boomers. He was murdered by Genom executive Brian J. Mason, and his death was covered up as an accident, but an unknown individual managed to send Sylia a data unit, providing her with Genom's future plans and the technological means of creating the Knight Sabers' hardsuits. She wears a blue and silver Hard Suit equipped with retractable sword blades in the forearms, laser cannons in the palms and wings for full flight capability.  Professionally, Sylia is a wealthy businesswoman whose business ventures, aside from the mercenaries' fee, finance the team. Her primary business is the lingerie shop "Silky Doll" she personally runs, housed in her private building, Lady's 633, on whose top is also her penthouse apartment functioning as the Knight Sabers' base of operations. Vanessa Rene is Margaret's former neighbor and tutor, who has received a university education in IT and is currently a manager for Bookwald Industries. Some reviewers have estimated her age as early thirties. Vanessa's goal is to uncover the real reasons of the conflict in Gazth-Sonika. Tamayo is 12 years old and is a friend and classmate of Misaki. She nicknames Misaki "Misakichi" and is rather eccentric. One of her favorite activities is practicing her martial arts techniques on her unwilling friend Kotaro. She always loudly cheers for Misaki at Angelic Layer matches and defends her against those who question her ability. It is later revealed that Tamayo has always held intimate feelings for Kotaro, which may be one reason why she always added "chan" (which Kotaro complains is only meant for "girls and little kids") to the end of his name instead of "kun", despite him being in middle school. She offers to be Misaki's "second" in her national game match against the Angelic Layer Company's angel due to Hatoko becoming ill before Misaki accepts Ohjiro's offer to be her second. This means that in reality she does not wish to casually speak with him, and that everything he does is actually Shiina's will - whether for good or for bad.    In the manga, Shiina can't link with Hoshimaru and the creature sometimes acts against her will.
