One of Tenma's close friends, Eri's father is British and her mother is Japanese. She has great difficulty with Kanji. Eri is extremely wealthy and somewhat spoiled (Western Europeans in Japan are stereotyped to be billionaires and extremely snobby). Eri is devoted to her father, but cannot spend as much time with him as she wants because of his work commitments.   ~!She is attracted to Harima, becoming very jealous and angry towards anyone rumored to date him. This even causes some strains in her relationships with Mikoto and Yakumo. Eri was unaware of Harima's true love interest for a long time and came to the realization on the night of her birthday party. After witnessing his his happiness whenever he is alone with Tenma. Even so, they do a fake marriage on paper for her family status at the end of the manga and  is constantly seen with Harima, implying a possible relationship.  In "School Rumble Z" she works as a stewardess and still seems to be looking for Harima. In the last chapter, she is seen walking into Karasuma's hospital room with Harima, while holding a baby. This presumably refers to that she has gotten married with Harima. !~

A kind hearted orphaned high school student who, at the start of the story, begins living in a tent. She is then found by [Shigure](https://anilist.co/character/206) and [Yuki](https://anilist.co/character/208), who offer to take her in in exchange for housekeeping. She loves to cook and describes herself as an excellent housekeeper. She also has an after-school job as a janitor to pay her tuition fees to avoid being a burden on her grandfather. She is depicted as polite, optimistic, extremely kind, and selfless; several other characters, including [Kyo](https://anilist.co/character/209), [Rin](https://anilist.co/character/3892) and [Hanajima](https://anilist.co/character/376), tell her she needs to look out for her own interests and not shoulder everyone else's burdens.

Tohru habitually speaks formally, but not always correctly, a habit she picked up from her father, [Katsuya](https://anilist.co/character/9230), after he died when she was three, as a way of replacing him in her mother's eyes. Tohru's mother, [Kyoko](https://anilist.co/character/9754), raised her alone until she died in a car accident shortly after Tohru entered high school, a few months before the start of the story. Tohru repeatedly calls Kyoko the most important person in her life and treasures her photograph.

Ayu is a rather short, strange, energetic, and a very mysterious girl who literally bumps into Yuuichi early in the story of Kanon. She is easily recognizable by her winged backpack, and her red hairband.   Ayu is left handed and loves to eat taiyaki. Ayu often takes out her frustration by using the word "uguu "   

~! Seven years before the story begins, she fell out of a tree and hit her head on the last day Yuichi was going to be in town. At first, he believes she died, but Akiko reveals she is in the hospital and has been in a coma for the past seven years. The Ayu Yuichi has been meeting in town is actually an astral projection of herself. Later on in the series, she breaks out of her coma, and gets her hair inadvertently cut too short when she goes to a barber shop, leading him to comment how much she looks like a boy like he did before.!~   

~!Eventually, she falls in love with Yuuichi, whom she was already somewhat attracted to from their interactions as children, and also shares a kiss with him.!~

Height: 162 cm  The popular girl at school who makes friends with the new student at school, Nina, who is a magic girl. Ayu doesn't believe in magic or anything like that, she has to keep her cool to maintain her reputation. She loves to play tennis and has a huge crush on Tetsushi.

Tamami is close friends and classmates with Aoba Kozue. She always has a camera and takes pictures of embarrassing situations and Kozue. She is also an inactive member (&quot;Ghost member&quot;) of the occult club, along with Kozue. She is very strong physically, although she appears quite normal. A perpetually smiling Evil genius, Tamami is cold, sarcastic, cruel, manipulative, inconsiderate and condescending towards those she deem to be her moral/intellectual inferiors; which in other words mean everybody besides Kozue-Chan (and her other personalities). Of course, Tamami also goes to Seika Tandai Fusoku High School with Kozue. Her birthday is November 8 and at the start of the manga and anime, her age is the same as Kozue's.

Shiina Yuya is a bounty hunter interested in the largest bounty she can find, that of 1,000,000 ryo that is on the head of Demon Eyes Kyo. She decides to follow Kyoshiro, bonding with him until he is "put to sleep" by the reappearance of Kyo. When Kyo wakes up completely, she follows him. In spite of his attitude, she comes to trust and believe in Kyo. In the forest of Aokigahara, she learns that Kyoshiro killed her older brother and decides to wait until he returns to the surface in order to get an explanation from him. Yuya is thus interested in Kyo and Kyoshiro. Somewhere deep in her heart, she knows the valuable secret of the Mibu Clan, a secret that her brother Nozomu shared with her when she was very young. The Aka no Ou also comes to believe that she is a seer, but this is neither confirmed nor disproven. In Chapter 229 of the manga, while telling her brother that she would not forgive him if he killed Kyo, she admitted out loud in front of everybody that she was in love with Kyo.  Despite being very temperamental and even violent if irritated, Yuya has a gentle and kind personality. Besides Kyo, Benitora and Akira have a crush on her. Many other characters come to enjoy her company and regard her as an important friend whom they will protect. At the very end of the manga, Yuya is searching for Kyo and in the bonus chapter Kyo and Yuya live together.

~! Used to disguise as a maid at the Awayuki estate under the name of Mikage. However, she is found out by Sasame that she is fact Takako, the former Pr&eacute;tear.   Takako was the former Pr&eacute;tear and was in love with Hayate. When Hayate confessed that he did not reciprocate her love, Takako's powers as Pr&eacute;tear turned towards evil, thus becoming Fenrir, the Princess of Disaster. As Fenrir, Takako's ultimate goal was to destroy the world by taking away the Leafe that preserved all life.!~

Yasuna tends to be a quiet and often lonely girl compared to the rest of her friends. Since her parents are rarely around due to being overworked, she seems to depend on her close friends for love and support, especially when it comes to Hazumu, who unfortunately doesn't tend to show her the type of affection Yasuna desires from her. Yasuna and Hazumu first met as classmates, though they rarely ever talked with each other, which means that Hazumu was simply admiring Yasuna from afar.    One day when on Mt. Kashima sometime before the main story began, Yasuna found that they shared an interest in gardening. It was also at this point where she pointed out how feminine Hazumu appeared, which is also the main reason she could see most of his figure minus his face, which as a male was always shown with his hair covering it. As fate would have it, Yasuna rejected Hazumu's first confession of love for her as a boy, but later after his transformation into a girl, ironically she confesses her love to Hazumu.    Her awkward personality and antisocial tendencies towards males in general is due to Yasuna displaying symptoms of androphobia. Astonishingly, she sees all men, minus Hazumu, as covered in a grey blur. This is mainly why she finds it easier to love Hazumu after he becomes a girl, showing much more blatant interest in Hazumu after the change.    She is in the Music Club and plays the flute. Incidentally, the music room where she practiced playing was positioned near a rooftop of the school where Hazumu would maintain a large garden.

A minor character in the beginning of the series, Makie's role is slightly expanded on later on in the manga, where she finds herself having a small crush on Negi later in the series (mainly more so in her finding him cute than an actual crush). Despite her constant being around her teacher, though, she is unaware that he's a mage.  In the Negima!? anime series her character is quite different. Although still cheerful and kind, she's now a form of comic relief; she's often made fun of and mocked by her roommate Ayaka. Despite this, though, the two get along somewhat well, sharing a dorm together even.

Naru Narusegawa is a 17-year-old student and resident of the Hinata Inn that can be described as "one fuse short of a cannon" because of her extremely fiery temper and tendency to be very physical, mainly with Keitaro whenever she feels he's acting perverted. Of all the girls in the Hinata House, she is victimized the most by Keitaro's clumsiness which often results in her being naked, exposed in some fashion, or lying in very suggestive positions. Throughout most of high school she studied hard and became Tops in the nation on the college practice exams in order to get into Tokyo University. Because of her intense study regiment she became majorly short-sighted and has to wear thick "coke-bottle glasses" when not wearing her contacts.  

~! She developed feelings for Keitaro, however, was unable to admit it to herself or anyone else for a long time. Despite overcoming this and confessing her love, hitting Keitaro whenever he got "too close" had become involuntary and second nature.!~

Aoi Misato is a beautiful girl who comes from a wealthy, traditional family. The respected President of Magami High School's Student Council is liked by all, and she is best friends with Komaki Sakurai. Aoi is a sensitive person, sweet to the point of being naïve, and she gets very upset whenever someone is in trouble or hurt; she's compassionate and believes there is good in all people. Although Aoi's quiet, kind temperament causes her to struggle when she gains power, until she becomes obsessed with protecting people. This stems from a childhood memory, when she was unable to save a friend from dying in a fire. Trapped herself by burning rubble, Aoi carries a scar down her back which she calls her stigma. She's ashamed of her scar, and only shows it to Tatsuma Hiyuu when he goes to her during her depression. Tatsuma exchanges a similar story, showing her his own birthmarks, which leads the two kind-hearted, empathic teenagers to grow closer.  Aoi is considered to be the weakest member of the Magami team during their battles to protect Tokyo, and everyone is always looking out for her - Kyouichi in particular, who forces her to stand down too often in order to protect her. Despite his rude, cruel attitude towards her, Aoi is never troubled by his mean tone and tries to defend herself. Although it is subtle, Aoi and Kyouichi obviously have feelings for each other. She also seems to have strong feelings for Tatsuma especially at the end of the series, she even calls out his name at graduation. Both Aoi and Tatsuma share the exact same personality traits, so it is often Tatsuma who offers to talk candidly with her, without judgments or fighting.  Born under the Yata (八咫) star, Aoi's Shukusei (Star of Fate) is represented in the Sanshu no Jingi (Three Sacred Treasures) class and symbolizes the Yata-no-kagami, or the "Eight Hand Mirror", an object of Wisdom and Honesty. Further burdened by her Fate, Aoi discovers that she also has the Bosatsu-gan (Bodhisattva Eye) and holds incredible powers of healing and resurrection. Mizuho is the main protagonist who transfers to an all-girl&#039;s school per his grandfather&#039;s will and must crossdress in order to attend. He already looks very androgynous, so the change thankfully isn&#039;t obvious to the other members of the school. However, Mizuho is always nervous about being found out and constantly worries that it will happen. In spite of this, he was well received on his first day at school and has already become very popular among the students. At first he was shocked when he found out about the will, but with the help of his childhood friend Mariya Mikado, who also attends the school, he was able to resign himself to transferring to the school. Despite making the change, he still uses language which is usually only used by males in Japan such as boku (僕), meaning &quot;I&quot;.    When Mizuho was younger, he had very little self-confidence and in effect often would follow Mariya around, depending on her as his closest childhood friend. Additionally, his mother died from an unexplained illness when he was younger and one of her last requests to her husband, Mizuho&#039;s father, was to not force Mizuho to have his hair cut until after he had grown up. Mizuho explains this was so that he would be free to make his own choice of what hairstyle he wanted later on, and obviously he kept it, thinking it suited him best.    Mizuho&#039;s had to use the surname Miyanokōji, his mother&#039;s maiden name, in order to enter into the school; his actual surname is Kaburagi (鏑木). The Kaburagi family&#039;s biggest rival is the Itsukushima family, both of which are very well-endowed in terms of money and power. Mizuho didn&#039;t realize it at first, but Takako is a member of that Itsukushima family. Despite this, Mizuho doesn&#039;t see her as a rival and enjoys her company very much. In fact, they share Japanese history class together and sit next to each other. They often talk to each other during class by either whispering or passing notes.

Manami has a very active personality and gives everything a lot of effort. It is mainly due to her uplifting personality that other students begin to have more vigor in their lives, in contrast to how bland life was before she transferred. After transferring to Seioh Private High School, she becomes the student council president, and sets forth to transform the lives of the students at the school so as give everyone a better experience while attending Seioh. 

Despite her enthusiasm to become the student council president early on Manami soon shows an incapability to lead even a joint student council meeting. Manami relies on her close friends for support for the things she wants to put forth for the sake of the school, while simultaneously giving her friends the motivation they need to continue work within the student council.

The main human character of the series: a pink-haired, red-eyed, 16-year-old, high school student obsessed with mysteries and the occult. Despite her love of strange cases, she never manages to find out who Loki is-- partly due to the fact that she has absolutely no sixth sense, despite being the daughter of a Shinto priest.

~!Mayura also seems to have romantic feelings towards Loki near the end of the anime series, mostly by saying that he is a very important person to her. When Loki "disappeared" ( actually he decided to go back to the world of the gods) Mayura looked everywhere for him, when "God" (adult Loki) granted her a wish she wished to see Loki even if it was for a last time.!~

The &quot;midget&quot; of the Blade Children group, she resembles a 13 year old child rather than her actual age, 16. Rio may seem small, but she is actually older then both Kousuke and Ryoko, as revealed in Spiral Alive, and the Bonds of reasoning manga. Although Rio appears to be the most innocent of the Blade Children with her cherubic features and size, she is actually very shrewd and calculating, and is one of the more dangerous of the blade children. Rio knows how to create bombs, devise difficult plans and kill those she considers her enemies. She is extremely intelligent and is able to escape from any sticky situation, no matter how small or tight it is. She is very straight-forward and has a crush on Eyes because he gives her &#039;netted pattern&#039; melons (her favorite food). Like Kousuke, she will not hesitate to kill people if she has to. Suzu is the main heroine of the story. She is an honest girl and can be very spontaneous when excited. She is the first person that Ikuto meets on the island, and is possibly the closest one to him. As the series progresses, Suzu begins to develop feelings for Ikuto, but she has trouble realizing it due to her inexperience with boys. A student who also happens to work at a shrine as a miko, or shinto priestess. Kureha is skilled in the art of archery, or kyūdō. She was transported to End Earth with Souma after they helped Mao defeat a monster. Upon their arrival, she was attacked by monsters and presumably died. Fortunately, she was revealed to be unscathed after Souma pulled out a sword from her body, the Spirit Sword Snow Moon Flower (霊剣　雪月華, Ryōken Setsu Getsu Ka). After Kiriya and Souma&#039;s fight, she joins Kiriya and the other Luminous Knights. Kiriya can also draw a sword from her, the Spirit Sword Blazing Sunlight (霊剣　日輪烈光, Ryōken Nishirin Rekkō). Kotori is the school's idol and star singer. Although she can hear other people's thoughts, she carefully hides this ability. She became close to [Jun'ichi](https://anilist.co/character/3675/Asakura-Junichi) because he was the only one in the male student body that didn't try to idolize her. She has a habit of using cute greetings to people she feels especially close to.

Youko is the female lead of the series. She has two main abilities. The first is jaen where she shoots a coiling strand of fire out of her fingertips. There is also dai-jaen which is just a larger, more powerful variation. The second ability is shukichi, an ability which allows her to teleport objects. Strangely enough, although she is generally fearless in the face of evil spirits, she is terrified of normal dogs. During an escape from Hake, she met the child Keita, who was with her for three days and shared his chocolate cake with her, which became one of her favorite things. Due to this incident, she wanted to become Keita&#039;s inukami to make a contract with him. Youko has feelings for Keita and she gets angry whenever he flirts with other girls.

Hanyuu is the mysterious "transfer student" in Matsuribayashi-hen. She has a pair of dark colored horns on her head, one of which is chipped slightly (however, no one seems to notice or mention them, with the exception of Takano, who calls her a "monster").   In fact, she has appeared to Rika all her life, but only in Matsuribayashi-hen and Miotsukushi-hen did she gain the power to interact with others, posing as a distant relative of Rika's and given the name "Hanyuu Furude." Like many of the characters, she can be frightening when angered, and with her spirit-like nature, her appearance can change with her mood until she takes a physical form.  She is very meek and often makes the noise "Au au, au au…" when she is nervous or uncomfortable, or sometimes while trying to make a point. She also tends to end her sentences with nano desu (なのです?, lit. "it is so").   She dislikes alcohol and kimchi, which Rika imbibes in large amounts as punishment when she finds Hanyū annoying (as both Hanyuu's and Rika's senses are linked together). She mentions that she is a "being above humans" after being sacrificed to atone for the sin of humans, while both Rika and Takano describe her as a kind of deity.   Rika refers to her as "Oyashiro" when talking with others (evident from Shion's chat with Rika in Meakashi-hen) but does not personally think of her as Oyashiro; instead, she sees her as a close friend.   In Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei, Hanyuu tells Rika that she was sacrificed to atone for the sins of the people of the village, and Hanyū asked Ouka Furude (Hanyuu's own daughter and Rika's ancestor) to kill her and then make the village a better place.   ~!She is the one responsible for the eternally repeating June 1983, which she created in order to save Rika from being murdered.!~

If the ears haven’t given it away, Multi is a robot – a maid robot, specifically, from Kurusugawa Electronics. She is a prototype, and arrives at [Akari](https://anilist.co/character/3387) and [Hiroyuki](https://anilist.co/character/4200)’s school for a two-week stay for final testing.

Multi is a bit clumsy but has a big heart, and is endlessly cheerful and considerate. She has a simple, childlike personality, and loves to clean because it makes others happy. As a maid, she can’t really compare to [Serio](https://anilist.co/character/4199); but as a “human being,” Multi is an unqualified success.

The adoptive daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, Yuuki is a member of the school's disciplinary committee (public morals committee in Japanese), which is the 'front' for the Guardians. Ten years prior to the events of "Vampire Knight," Yuuki was attacked by a vampire, but was rescued by Kaname. She has lost all memory of her life before the attack, and Headmaster Cross took her in as his own daughter. Yuuki loves Kaname, and even though she has witnessed his vampiric nature when he bit Ruka, she still couldn't stop loving him. However, she has also started to let Zero, a childhood friend, drink her blood, hoping to save him from madness. Yuuki is cheerful and easygoing, and thanks to her work as a Guardian she is good at keeping her cool in sticky situations. There have been hints that she is special, given that vampires are especially drawn to her blood. Her weapon of choice is the "Artemis Rod," an extensible staff she received from Headmaster Cross.

She is associated with the season of autumn. She is the tomboy of the group, so what she imagines tends to be fighting and sports related, or concerned with samurai or ninjas.
