Cheren is one of the player character's childhood friends who often battles the player throughout his or her Pokemon journey. Cheren is very knowledgeable about Pokemon and helps the player whenever he can.  His name means black in Bulgarian.

Red is just a normal kid living in the rural Pallet Town, when he decides to go out on his own adventure, along with his rival since childhood, Green. In this world of Pokemon, he makes many friends, humans and Pokemon alike. However, all is not well. Team Rocket is trying to capture Mew, a very rare Pokemon, and is performing experiments on other Pokemon, trying to increase their power. Red and his friends must battle against Team Rocket to stop their cruel experiments and unlock the secrets of Pokemon.

Master!! Pokemon Black &amp; White first premiered in the October 2010 issue of CoroCoro Comics Special. It is being promoted by CoroCoro Comics as a "walkthrough comic." The comic follows the story of a young boy named Monta, filling the role of the male protagonist from Pocket Monsters Black &amp; White, as he travels through the Isshu Region with his friends Cheren and Bel. Throughout his journey, he and his Tsutarja learn about many of the new gameplay mechanics introduced in the fifth generation games such as capturing wild pokemon in double battles and pulling off combination techniques.
