Yoshino, the other protagonist, is a tall, masculine child who at the beginning of Wandering Son is a fifth grader in Shuichi's class. Otherwise known as Takatsuki-kun by their classmates, with an honorific used mainly with boys, Yoshino wishes to be a boy. Yoshino usually refrains from dressing in traditionally feminine clothes, such as skirts or dresses. Despite this, Yoshino's mother insists on buying such clothes for them. Shortly after becoming friends with Shuichi, Yoshino gets a boyish haircut, taking on the appearance of a boy their age, especially when Yoshino is dressed in a male school uniform. Like Shuichi, Yoshino becomes increasingly concerned and resentful about undergoing puberty, such as at the beginning of menstruation or the growth of breasts. Yoshino goes to buy a chest-flattening garment to escape the necessity of wearing a bra. Like Shuichi, Yoshino shows signs indicating gender dysphoria, though later stops thinking that way due to personal exposure to modelling.

Yoshino prefers to dress and act like a boy, but usually abstains from anything which would draw attention, such as going to school in a male uniform after entering junior high. However, Yoshino does on occasion dress in a male school uniform and go to neighboring cities while dressed as a boy; during one such time, Yoshino enjoys being hit on by an older woman. Yoshino wants to look "cool" and wears clothes which are not girlish. When teased by others, Yoshino is prone to getting emotional and is known to get violent on occasion. Yoshino takes up an interest in basketball after entering junior high school and joins the female basketball team with Chizuru Sarashina. In junior high, Yoshino decides not to get a haircut after a comment by Saori, but later cuts it back to a short, boyish style. Yoshino's family consists of a father, mother, older brother, and older sister.

Ayako is the manager of the team and object of Ryota's affections. Strong-willed, somewhat tomboyish and good-natured, at first Ayako does not seem to reciprocate Ryota's feelings for her, which she knows of, and will not until the end of the series. She is directly responsible for sharpening Hanamichi's abilities for real matches, by training him in the basics, such as ball possession and dribbling. Her disciplinary style is midway between Akagi and Anzai - while not as soft as the latter, she is also not as hard as the former. Her last name is unknown. Curiously, Hanamichi treats her almost as respectfully as Anzai, even though she is in a lower position in the team; possibly because of her gender, since he is generally more respectful towards females. Ryota refers to her as "Aya-chan" because of his attraction to her, and she responds by calling him "Ryota" rather than by his surname.

Officer Jenny is not a single entity. Rather, there are many Jennys working as police officers across the various regions of the Pokémon world.  Generally, Officer Jennies are brave and determined, but mostly ineffective in their police duties. They fight against the likes of Team Rocket, Team Magma, Team Aqua and Team Galactic - among other miscellaneous criminals. The town/region where a certain Jenny comes from can be discerned by the symbol on their hats which always differs depending on location.  Although Jennies appear mostly identical, there is some minor divergence among them, as evidenced by Brock, who is able to recognize different Jennies on numerous occasions. Brock appears to be the only character who can tell them apart. However, each Jenny has a different symbol on her hat that indicates location. There seem to be two Viridian Jennies, as during the Indigo League, two Jennies with the same hat symbol were seen side-by-side. (We know that the symbol in question--a star--indicates Viridian due to previous episodes.) One of the Viridian Jennies maintains a fierce rivalry with the Jenny of Eterna City. Although there are many exceptions, Officer Jenny will generally have Growlithe to use as a police dog.  There is a very distinct parallel between the families of Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy. This may indicate some sort of relation or deeper connection, and fans have sometimes speculated about such. However, the only thing known about the two families is that they are apparently on good terms.  Ash's Squirtle was given to an Officer Jenny who fights fires. It is the leader of a group of four other Squirtle known as the "Squirtle Squad", who serve as the local firefighting team.  A young Officer Jenny named Marble appeared in Luxray Vision!. She was in charge of looking for "The Bandit Beauties Three." She was also voiced by 西村ちなみ Chinami Nishimura in Japanese, but voiced by Meghan McCracken in English.  An Officer Jenny from Kanto appeared in Stealing the Conversation! with a Chatot as her partner. Apparently, she had come all the way to Sinnoh to capture Jessie, James, and Meowth.

The female protagonist of the series. She is known as "Princess" by many female students due to her intelligence and high grades, which makes her the most popular girl at Tougetsu Academy. Ayaka is Kazane Kagari’s foster daughter, the chairwoman of the school who also happens to be head of "Workshop Witches."

Atsumu is a childhood friend of Jinta and Menma. In the present, Atsumu holds a condescending attitude towards Jinta. He becomes agitated when Menma is mentioned and is still distraught over her death. He, together with Chiriko, attend the same high school, which Jinta failed the entrance exams to enter. Atsumu and Chiriko were once mistaken as a pair.   ~!Atsumu is still in love with Meiko despite her death and keeps one of her sundresses in his closet. He buys hair scrunchies and other trinkets to place at her grave. He revealed that he is able to see Menma too. But in the end of episode 4, it's been proven that he is a crossdresser and tried to fool everyone. Once they got him, Atsumu confessed his love for Meiko and that he felt guilty for her death. In episode 5, Atsumu seems to have a kind of interest for Naruko, asking her to go out with him and if she is a virgin.!~

Millhiore's secretary, who schedules everything for her, from official work, wars, to even concerts. As someone who Millhiore trusts, there are a lot of situations which she interacts with Laurent, hinting a romantic relationship between the two.

She was initially unable to properly utilize her Vox unit as the knowledge of a supposed fate concerning Vox pilots caused her to become afraid. However, Madoka helps her overcome her fear and she becomes able to use her Vox unit, Vox Rympha, which she names Orca. She is jealous of Muginami, who shows a lot of interest in Madoka, which leads to her to join the Jersey Club and begin living with Madoka. Due to her luxurious upbringing as princess of the planet Le Garite, Lan has little understanding of the commoners' lifestyle.

Unlike the frail Hinata who has just recently learned basketball, Kagetsu has incredible stamina and is a marathon runner in school.    ~!One snowy day, while asleep alone at home, she did not notice Hinata coming back from school.
